Where do you get cactus flesh?

I'm on a barren biome world like the guide says. When you scan the planet from space it even says it has cactus flesh. But when I landed none of the plants had it as a component. Not even the plants that looked like a cactus. I must have searched for the better part of an hour, but it wasn't a component on any of the plants. I was even looking for tiny plants like I had to for solanium.

Sometimes the scans from space are wrong. Try another world. It needs to be a desert world with cactus. There are special plants there that you can pick the cactus from.

You'll want to look for the Echinocactus[nomanssky.gamepedia.com] plant on Desert or Barren planets. Unfortunately this plant does not glow, like a Star Bramble, and is harder to spot. From the air, look for a large patch of greenish/brownish plants (I know, I know ). Once you've recognized it, it'll be easier to spot them.

Your scanner should also show them as a Leaf icon, if you are within range.

jfc, I've jumped to like 5 systems now and none of them have a barren biome planet.

Have you tried scrounging some from ships at trading posts? Might save you some frustration if you're having a tough time with barren biomes.

Yeah it is random and might take a while.

Barren can be called other names too.... desert... They use a lot of names for the biomes.

I finally found a planet where the plants have them as a harvestable. That first planet none of the plants had it.

Yeah, sometimes (rarely) the space scan is not the same as the planet. I have seen that a few times.

When you find a planet that has it, actually finding the cactus on the planet is hard. You have to keep looking.

Just FYI: if you visited some starsystems in the past, try checking planets under the "discovery" tab. If you visited a barren/desert planet in the past - just use space station portal to get there.

Just my luck, I find a planet that has them but now there is a firestorm literally every five minutes. Just not my day I think.

You can scout from air between storms, see how it looks from the air:

In some cases, the plant is extremely rare on a planet indicating its presence..but you can find it as a secondary part of a scanned plant. Sucks to do it that way since typically it 10% or less...but have done it in a pinch.

Cactus gold rush...got a process a lot of crap to get a little cactus flesh.

If you have a bad luck - just settle at a trading post and keep trading with ship captains until you get enough cactus for farming

you can refine it from oxy and pyrite at 2:1 ratio. pyrite can be refined from oxy and gold at 1:2 ratio. gold can be mined from caves, asteroids or "metal fingers" or refined from coprite and goo from terminals.

but simplest way is to look for scorched planets and then "just land" and look for blue "leaf" icon with your analysis visor (F key on PC) you can stuff yourself up to your ears with cactus flesh there ;)

They grow outside on this planet and there is a farm too.
