Best practice with the AMUs is to always leave 10 units of the desired product in them by selecting the qty and use the "s" key to decrement down. That allows you to transfer 240 units to your inventory and leave 10 units in the miner so that it will stay focused on the product being mined.
They usually don't freak out very often.
Not all and your response was the opposite of what I shared with you. If you already have an AMU with the bug (producing Copper), remove and replace it onto the Sodium mine. Then follow what I shared above and it will always produce Sodium. I've done that with all of my mines and it works.
It's the oldest bug in the game, present long before in pre-NEXT. The workaround is to empty, delete and replace the device.
Okay so as far as I can tell you can not put sodium from yer inventory into the output slot. I click on the slot and nothing.
I'm not finding anyway to delete it. If I was at my base I'd press z and then ctrl give you an option to delete. But where the deposit is I'm not seeing that option.
The only upside is I got a full refund when deleting them. Heard some people saying you only get half back.
I haven't had to replace an AMU yet since another member here shared that idea of leaving a small amount (10 units) in the AMU rather than moving the entire qty over to your suit. Practice using the "s" key on ores in your suit between suit slots and you will get the hang of it.
When in the AMU inventory, your task is not to move all 250 units of Sodium from the AMU to your suit. You want to leave (10) units of the Sodium in the AMU (using the "s" key). That way the AMU is still locked-in on producing Sodium and is prevented from switching to Copper.
