okie dokes, thanks for the fast response
But beware, as they intend to roll out NMS Online, they will probably create a ban feature for those with mods, similar to GTA V. So if you intend to play Online when it comes out, you may not want to get hooked on mods.
Is HG going to require a log in to a server? If so, how do they handle previous save files? Will it be an addition to what is there, or will it replace it? If it is a replacement, will transferring of save files be doable or practical, and what prevents cheaters from exploiting it? How will HG sniff out and punish cheaters? Will they have the resources to enforce strict sets of rules?
With how limited HG is on people, and possibly funds, I don't see them putting in a system that would require a lot of overhead. Also changing things too much, especially with things that mess with player data in a bad way, could cause a backlash. HG does try to minimize the impact on player data, even though there has been quite a few changes over the years, but if they didn't care, I could see things being much worse.
I'm just guessing, but my best guess is that most mods will be just fine after The Beyond update, with most of the issues with mods being having to update them. As long as mods don't break EULA or ToS, they will likely be OK to use.
I do not think there will be any cheat detection or ban. Those who cheat will cheat and those who don't do not. There will probably be some option to turn off multiplayer and that's it.
i would like some more info on this future "online" mode. Is there a link talking about it somewhere?
It's a Venn diagram, and they overlap. A mod that tweaks flight controls could be seen as a cheat in multiplayer.
We haven't seen NMS Online yet, but when it comes out, be sure to draw one up for me.
If a mod for example causes graphics errors then simply use the DISABLEMODS.txt file and remove the offending MOD(S). Previously before Hello Games provided that folder, modders were more likely to break the game so HG provided a 'safe folder' for them to contain corruption.
YOUR PUNISHMENT!
