In network settings there are options to allow others to modify your base.

Pretty much this. It is in the same menu that enables Multiplayer and friendly fire.

You can set it to friends only (as in people listed on your Steam Friends list) or anyone.

But that's it. You can only use your own ship or access your own base inventory. However that isn't all that bad. That means your friend can store things in their own base storage and use your base storage to access point and transfer stuff to you.
thx guys !

To clarify (since i dont do MP) does this mean when i for example try to open container 9 in my friends base, i'll get access to my container 9 contents instead? (like how all my bases/freighter share the same container 9 space)?

Can anyone harvest my plants etc, or do you need those friendly co-op settings enabled?

Is plant harvesting timer shared? i.e. if someone else picks the plant, do i have to wait 120 minutes or does everyone have their own timers.

I'm just thinking i may be trying to push some friends into NMS after Beyond launches (and gets patched a few times) and would setup maybe a mars base or something (do we even have red rock barren planets?)

I haven't played MP either, but I have picked up some info while watching others, usually on want few streaks I watch

In order listed...
  • I believe so. Looking at a given cargo block will give them access to their own base inventory, as if they placed it instead of you.

  • I'm not sure, but it seems like anyone in that same game can harvest your plants. But if you are offline, and they visit your base on their own (the one you uploaded) that's its own insurance, and doesn't affect you at all.

  • I would assume, for simplicity in coding, that if a plant is harvested it will trigger the same timer for everyone in that game.

  • Most barren planets I remember seeing have been brown. Regardless, having a friend join in and kicking around together usually helps. Just be sure you each have your own base, and you upload your bases after significant changes, just so you can visit each other's bases while the other is offline.

Press X to do a quick transfer from your general inventory to another player in close proximity. Must be playing together or be on the Anomaly (MP on of course).
