Why can't I transfer stuff from Freighter to storage when I have storage on the freighter?

I am finding that when I click "X" to transfer contents in the freighter's storage to "Storage Container Inventory", I can't. It says "Storage not on board freighter". But I have all 10 storage containers created in my freighter base!! It only allows me to transfer to Exosuit or starship.

Is this bugged or am I missing something?

This may or may not be the issue you're running into, but I believe you need to be standing near the storage container to quick-transfer items from the freighter to storage.

No, sorry, you can never transfer directly from freighter to storage, it has to go into exosuit or ship first, sorry

When they changed the freighter containers so they didn't glitch into space they didn't include the transfer from freighter to container. Only to and from your exosuit and your starship

I think you have to at least be standing just inside the corridor at the top of the staircase, from the main hangar that the star ships land on), for any transfer to 'activate'.

I can have my freighter in orbit, stand near my storage containers on the planet, and quick-transfer from the freighter to them. I did it just a few days ago to get some items off my freighter that I needed at my planetary base.

So, after watching your video I went into the game, and from the surface of the planet I summoned my freighter into the system, went and stood near a storage container, and went to the freighter inventory screen and was able to transfer items from the freighter inventory to my storage container next to me (on the planet's surface).

I'm not sure why it's not working in your video. My initial suspicion was that you didn't have inventory space available in your storage containers. But, even if your storage is full the storage container entry in the quick transfer menu wouldn't be red, it would just be normal but have a "0" (indicating no space is available).

At least, that's what's showing up on my end. I tried to take a screenshot of it, but apparently Steam screenshots (or the F12 key) are disabled while an inventory transfer is active.

My save game, by the way, was created post Visions or post Abyss. I can't recall which. I ditched my NMS launch saved game long ago.

Perhaps it is because you have a storage rooms built on your freighter, and that's confusing the game (hence the error message that you're not on board the freighter). I do not have those built yet. All of my storage containers are planet-side at my base, and my freighter hasn't been fleshed out beyond the initial freighter tutorial. Right now it's just an extra set of inventory spaces.

Here we go, I managed to brute force the screenshots.

Forgive the awful composition.. I made use of a pit on the land of my base and built the storage containers down in it. I summoned my freighter to a position where you could see both it (when looking up the staircase) and my storage containers near the staircase.

Image 4:[live.staticflickr.com] Moving some Cactus Flesh from the freighter to the storage container (note there is only room for a quantity of 50 left in storage).

Image 5:[live.staticflickr.com] Unable to move any more Cactus Flesh over to storage, as the storage capacity on the container now indicates 0 (as 50 Cactus Flesh were transferred over and consumed the remaining storage capacity).

Gyson, I looked at your screen shots. However I cannot get what you are showing to work. I can look up at my freighter at or near a storage container and it still doesn't work.

Well, heck. I'm stumped. :/ I actually learned about this option from a friend, so I know it's available to some people. I'm not sure what's preventing or allowing it on some games.

I can move items between storage and freighter a) when I stand at the storage on the planet and the freighter is in the system b) when I stand in the freighter in the same system as my planet with storage and open the storage container terminal (you need to build it in your freighter, one storage container terminal per room).
This is with a post-NEXT save.

@Jacra, just to clarify, the issue is sending items from the freighter to storage. Agree that you can send anything to the freighter. Heck it seems you can do that from anywhere, period.

For both your A and B, I cannot do either. I have tried that exact scenario for each already. I even deleted all of my storage containers in all bases and freighter and experimented with having different combinations of where they were. Nothing works. I can never transfer anything out of my freinghter unless I am on it and only then I can transfer to Exosuit and ship. NEVER to a storage container (even when I am standing in the storage room on the freighter!!)
