Best budget graphics card for No Man's Sky?
Hi, this is my current set up: Graphics - AMD Radeon R7 260x, CPU - AMD A8-7600, 8GB RAM.
I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for relatively cheap graphics cards that can run no mans sky decently. Thanks.
gtx 1050ti or rx 570 which has higher performance .. in your case do not get a very strong video card because your processor will suffer bottleneck (Until fm2 + platform is already obsolete) .. especially no man's sky which is a cpu-bound game.

In a game based on the opengl 4.5 algorithms I believe an intermediate gpu with a good amount of vram will get you a gameplay of around 60fps in medium~high quality near full-HD.

... and what do you mean by 'budget'?
I'm running an nvidia geforce gtx 970 w NMS on high and ultra. Runs fine

the 1660TI just came out a few weeks ago and looks like the best deal right now at about $280.

it performs similar to the 1070 for less money.

if you dont want to pay a premium for ray tracing, the 1660ti is basically close to the 2060, but around $80 cheaper with no ray tracing.

if $280 for the 1660ti is a stretch for you, then for $230 and around 15%-20% less performance, you can get the regular non TI 1660.

if thats still too high the 1050TI is a great budget card at about $170

i really think the 1660TI though is the best price to performance, and will provide great performance, not just now, but for a long time going forward, it's also a brand new card, so it has some of the latest tech, meaning it will handle a lot of newer games a lot better than an equivalent, but older card might. the 10 series is already quite old actually, the GPU shortage extended its life cycle well beyond normal.

By budget I mean under $200
The best that you will get for 200 is a GTX1660 but you can find a RX580 8gb (that performs slightly worse in this game) for 10-30 bucks less
GigaByte - Nvidia GTX 960 4GB VRAM, if still they are sold, should be largerly under $200 now. I've bought it as a budget card 2 years ago already.
I can play fine all today's games at 1920x1080, I never had any performance problems, but I also have a 4.0 ghz processor and 16 GB system RAM, and an excellent motherboard (ASUS), so my system is well balanced, although not the highest possible one, so I don't think I have any 4K or HDR support; for that you'd need a non-budget card like GTX 1060, GTX 1080 with 4+ GB VRAM (and also a 4K monitor).

Get a card with VRAM on it. In addition to your system RAM. That seems to be the trick. I have that GTX1060 with 6GIG VRAM and I sail through the game.

The GTX 1050 or 1050-Ti is probably the best bet for under $200, although I don’t recommend it because you’d be without compromise.

Play at 720p, light shafts, and medium settings and it’ll rarely go below 60.

Play at 1080p at lowest graphics at 30 FPS is possible.
I've got a 1050 Ti and it actually does just fine on medium/high settings at 1080p. Just drop the shadow quality if the FPS is low.

OC 1050 with 2 Gb is more than enough for low settings. I play with it.
Do not buy a amd gpu for this game it runs ♥♥♥♥
Steam says my GTX980TI is VR capable. The upcoming Steam Index VR system requirements call for a GTX1070 or better. I was surprised to see the stats are almost the same for both. I run a very stable 30 fps. If you are looking for better fps, you might think about spending more.
