There is a link on that site to the NEW atlas accepting your discovery data for NEXT planets.

Lastly is the Portal Repository an unofficial database with some useful links..

I started the workbook because I kept forgetting where I'd found things. I also could not recall what screenshots went with what system or planet. Arrgh. So I also now have a standard screenshot sequence as I enter a new system and visit a new planet. It helps me a lot. But it depends on what you want it for.
My screenshot minimum documentation: shot of initial system arrival screen, Galactic Map view, planet scans from space, initial display on planet landing, HUD display when placing a signal scanner (so it has both the planet name and the galactic coordinates), screenshot of Discoveries Fauna, to show max fauna, etc. (An exosuit HUD screenshot also shows a weather description that sometimes differs from the Discoveries data. I report such discrepancies).
You may want to look at Atlas Hub[atlashub.space], an online database. Join to add data and upload screenshots. It may not contain all data you want, but it's an attractive and excellent effort by a player/fan.
works local/offline and online

No joke. You need to know how to use it though.
I'm less interested in setting up trade routes (that seems kinda tedious for my kind of gameplay) than in recording what systems have, what planets are there, and what resources can be obtained on those planets, but my own skill at working with spreadsheets and databases is pretty much nil. If you come up with something that works well at recording *this* kind of data, do please post a link or something, as I'd be interested in seeing something for that.
That's what I use. Just for basic information though. For each system & planet I visit I record System name, Class, Race, Number of Planets/Moons, Planet Name, Weather, Sentinels, Base name (if applicable), Resources and any special bonuses such as Salvage Containers, Storm Crystals etc.
This means that if I have a need for a required resource I can quickly ascertain which planet has that resource with the least weather or sentinel interference, and the name of my base there.

Our capital ship should contain a really cool interface for stuff like this. At the very least - SOMETHING.
With a game that is HEAVILY focused on exploration, nothing built into the game to aid us in a GALACTIC Sunday afternoon drive.
Not sure if the developers browse these forums or not, but here's a request.
(I'm going to add this to suggestions forum as well)
• Inside the freighter (at least in the capital version, if not all), change the holographic display that shows the spinning orange planet (or it that a sun?), when you warp into a solar system, it displays a holographic image of the entire solar system you're in.
Additionally, the ability (with a ship upgrade, of course! :)) to scan the solar system and display (and log) planet information on a screen inside your capital vessel.
• Give us the ability to log a solar system in the galactic map, where systems we want to make a log of, have an icon in the galactic map (on the star, if we want), when selecting the star, it shows a side panel with the information
- Star name (or our own nickname we give the system)
.... planet1, info...etc.
.... planet2, info....etc.
You get that devs, right???
--------
Players having to do this manually using spreadsheets or access (or whatever), is lame lame lame.
.........
I like to "play" a video game like this. Explore...etc.
Having to flip out of the game to log information, kind of ruins the immersion of it.
Thanks for reading.
And thanks for the thread. Hits home with me.
No, I don't do anything outside of the game like you all are discussing. It just annoys me simple interfaces are not present like this in the game.
:)
I really wish HG would host or license a proper database for all to explore, instead of this locally stored silliness that defaults whenever you travel far enough away. I get that it costs money to maintain, but if would be nice to not only catalog our finds, but access other player's discoveries as well.
