Just realize that NMS is still a work, and that Hello Games is an indie development team. But they are still passionate about the game... even though the planned scope of it is likely oversized for a group their size to properly handle. But then again, you don't gain much if there is no risk or ambitions; and the expansive world they made, and on such a compact engine, is pretty ambitious.
If feeling particularly generous, buying it for $60 would give HG a bit more money (after everyone else gets their share), which they can always use. While I can't really make a good argument saying it is worth it at $60 for everyone that is into games similar to NMS, there are those that feel as though $60 is worth it, and I believe them and don't consider them crazy. The amount of hours they put in on it shows they did get more than their money's worth out of it.
(but I don't think those are typical results)
In other words, yes but I want to warn you: this game is for a certain type of enjoyment. I do not feel like the game-play is very goal oriented. It leans hard on free exploration and atmosphere, even with the updates.
I think the most compelling reason to purchase is that the team actively is trying to make the best 'galaxy-sized' sandbox humanity has seen. If you see this as a grand scale piece of installation art, then its easy to justify supporting the artist. Whether or not this is how you want to spend your time is purely subjective, but I think general consesus is that the game is, whether or not you enjoy it, notably visionary.
I think you should go for it. Its worth the 30$ risk, if only to experience the flavor.
i spend more than $30 just on a takeout...its all relative though as i paid full price but i have got my money back in the hours played so far.
.....someone who never played any BGS game ! (rather any video game for the past 20 years) :o
Dont worry about NMS, it has some bugs (actually most players issues come from their system or from pebkacs*) but it just works !.... so it's well worth your 30 bucks and more
*(in case someone wonder what pebkac mean) P.roblem E.xists B.etween K.eyboard A.nd C.hair...
Its VERY worth it at $30. easy.
If you have to ask, then you can't afford it.
