What makes a system show up as a teleport option?
As I was warping towards the center of the galaxy, I made note of a few systems that had interesting planets I wanted to explore. However, none of those systems are available in my teleporter. I am guessing it's because I never actually landed on the space station in those systems?

This is the first time I've noticed that not all systems I discover show up, but that's probably because previously I was more thoroughly exploring each system I might want to revisit, whereas now I was just hopping from black hole to black hole without really stopping to do anything other than scan a few planets.

So really, I've got 2 questions:
1) What is necessary for a system to show up as a teleport option?
2) Is there any way I can make my way back to those specific systems, without warping manually across the galaxy? At least a way to find out which is the closest system that I can teleport to?

I'm up to 74 so far and haven't had any drop from the list due to neglect that I can tell. I suppose that there's a system I can't remember because I've only visited it once which might have dropped off but I think that all of the systems in my current active save (Euclid) are still there.

Just warping through a system isn't enough to add it to the teleporter, even if one visits a planet or two. Landing in the space station should do it, though.

1. Systems will show up if you visit the space station, or build a teleporter on a planet. Maybe they show up if your freighter is there too, I can't remember.

2. I am not sure, not played for ages, teleporting and warp gates (the big star gate looking things) will get you where you need to be. also black holes, although can be unpredictable.

Custom Waypoints:

Select a target system from your Discoveries Timeline then fly out and check the distance using the galaxy map. If it's not close enough for your liking you can fly back, teleport to another station and look again.

to the first question -- warping into the system creates a "discovery" of that system - that is all that is needed. After that you can warp back until you've warped 50 times and then that first system will drop off the bottom of the list and so on. You must warp two times to activate the teleporter - any teleporter. That creates three system in the list -- you can't see the system on the list that you're in unless you have a base in that system with a teleporter. You can then see that system from your base teleporter

Ah, that must be it, then. I probably did warp 50+ times after discovering those systems. Is there any way to add them back to the list, using save editor maybe? I really don't want to go manually warping 100k+ LY to reach them again.

Wait, what?!
You go into the Station and open the Teleporter menu:steamfacepalm:. You don't have to warp twice or something to get it on your list. But I guess that's a nice feature to automatically add it to your list if you do?

If you want to make sure it is on your list, you can Teleport back and forth from some places. That will definitely make sure it is recorded.

Also, 50 systems is the limit you can have listed?! I thought people had a hundred or more discoveries on record! That's absolutely abysmal! The interface is awkward enough when the list gets large, let alone having something like that to discourage things even more. Sure, it ultimately doesn't matter in the extreme long run, but while in a given area, it really does matter a lot.

I think the warping twice bit was just about how to unlock the teleporter at the beginning of the game. Not really relevant to the thread but useful for any new players who happen to be reading it. Maybe I'm wrong though and he meant something else, confused me a bit as well tbh.

Teleporting back and forth ('warp twice') might be what is being referred to. I'm pretty sure interacting with the Teleporter is all you need to do (assuming no Portal Interference of course), but even I Teleport back and forth sometimes (or find a better reason to) just to make sure.

Teleporting does kind of feel like warping, and I guess the terms can get mixed up.

I just checked and seems you are indeed correct. Warped through a new system without visiting the space station and it didn't show up on the teleporter, whereas older systems where I had visited the station were still there. Guess there is no way to get back to those systems then without going the long way. Bummer.

it does add them to my teleporter list, hmmmm weird

AFAIK, the add to teleport should trigger when:

- You visit space station
- you save your progress on a planetary location device with the flag

The first is a sure one, for the second I need to re-confirm still.
