How long does it take to Get the Extreme Survival Max'd?
It says 5.0 SOLS/ 5.0 SOLS for my next goal. i am assuming i died right before getting it and have to re-do all the progress i made. but i have been standing in extreme storm conditions for awhile now and nothing is happening... Is this a bug or does it really just take that long? and how do you calculate it? when i scan it says 31.4 Rad. I also purchased a rad sheild so help with it, is that maybe interfering with getting the milestone? Any ideas?

~15 minutes per Sol. So to get back to your old 5 Sol's you need 75 minutes on the planet. I find that some planets don't seem to work even though they are extreme. For the 32 Sol's you need it'll be 8 hours on the surface.

Is it always that exact amount? because i can see exactly how much radiation i am getting if i scan it goes between 15 and 30 depending on if its storming

Go to a planet with an extreme atmosphere.

Find one of those outpost bases with a landing pad (likely works elsewhere, this is merely where I did it, and I have done this during NEXT).

Walk inside base. Leave game running.

Go do something else for about 8 hours. Come back and have the milestone.

Storms do not count (at least did not count prior to NEXT)
What is sure that counts is :
Extreme hazard planets in normal state (out of storm)
Extreme sentinels

Also, you can sit as long as you wish in a building that counts, sitting in a cave counts too
Sitting in your ship does not count though (or again was not counting prior to NEXT)
Take those with caution, maybe NEXT changed those conditions though...

Now Maxed 10 stars for extreme is a lot of time...
32 Sols...
and a Sol is about 15 minutes in NMS

And indeed if you died... your conter reset and you start all over
If you die in the game (in any environment, not just on extreme planets) your counter will stop ticking. In order for it to start ticking again, you need to stay on an extreme planet for the same amount of time as your record before dying (e.g. if you have 4 sols, or 1 hour, you'll need to stay on an extreme planet for at least one hour again so it will start counting up).
