Do I need to carry my Atlas key with me at all times?

I've finally got my first Atlas pass and chuffed to bits with it so I can now open all those crates on the planets, pity I need level 3 to go into the special rooms at space stations.

So do I need to carry it on me or could I leave it in my spaceship with no problems opening crates exploring?

It's not a microtransaction is it? First container I found had "Atlaspass v1 required", and it was the first thought I had.

Once you get your first Atlas V1, just keep it in your inventory, you will be able to open anything that requires that pass. If you dont have the pass you cannot open it. Keep it on your person at all times. Also you don't need to make more then one.

And no, Atlas pass v1 is given via quest

You get it following the main story line, after you visit the anomoly you do a few quests 2 hour cooldown after each quest for him to study the data, things like examining animals, meeting aliens, killing pirates and the one I'm on at present killing 20 sentinels, I'm on 8 at present, killing 1 sometimes 3 and then running in my ship.

You learn the scematic for it and craft it the same as every other craft, 200 copper and 1 micro prosessor I think it was, then it's a removeable item in your backpack and not tagged to a space like most other upgrades have been.

keep it with you if you want free antimatter and relics which increase standing with factions.

i found atlast pass V3 shortly after i got V1 lol, dont even have V2. but can i ditch V1 and 2 once u have 3? or do u need them all?
