How do I get rid of a 5 Star Wanted level?

Soo I got bored and killed a lot and got a 5 Star Wanted level, now it seems its permanent. When I go to hide, it says "Searching 0.00s" and it never goes away. Did I F up? Was having fun killing them but I don't want it to stay forever. :\

What should I do. I'm on my home planet where my base is.

Find a trade post or space station you can land at and restart the game.
Pretty sure its a bug since I sometimes dont get them to enter search phase at all and restarting the game has worked for me atleast.

Some thing like this happened to me last night. I saved a d exited. Next time I loaded the wanted level was gone. Might be a bug.

go to space, let enemy ships spawn, go to planet, land and wait, worked for me

Yea I fixed it, using the Teleporter to the space station worked. Thank god!

Note: If you do go to outer space with a level 5 wanted level and enemy ships spawn they usually disable your hyper drive and you will not be able to get away. Going to space with a wanted level is a sure way to die fast if your ship is not up to par with dog fighting. best to find a hole, shelter and wait it if it doesn't go away save exit and log back in. I made the mistake to go to outer space with a wanted level. and mouse and keyboard dog fighting is pure ♥♥♥♥. they need to add joystick support for my X-55.

I've found that going to space and coming back down will drop your on-planet wanted level to 1 or 2 stars. You may have to do it a second time to shake them off into a normal "searching" routine.

i guess you can play with your joystick. use x360ce. i do it as well with my hotas
