How do you repair a damaged ship in your fleet?

So I did the whole, kill some pirates and protect the frieghter thing, and the captain straight up just gave me his class A freighter. I got really lucky and got this on only my 4th system visited and about 8 hours of playtime.

Anyways, I send the trade ship out on a fleet mission. It got damaged and had to return to the fleet. Now it has a red icon. Under fleet management it says it is damaged. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to repair it. I have tried everything I can think of from checking every console, even flying out next to it and trying to use communication. How do you fix it?

Land on it.

land to your frigate (small ship near freighter) and use stairs to go down
and repair.

IKR, takes a second but its much cooler than remote repairing it.

The first time I had to do it I had forgotten that I had parked my freighter just off the rings of a planet, landed on my frigate to a breathtaking sight. First screenshot for this game in the ~year or so ive been playing again.

necropost but while this is "cooler" than remote repairing, I also really would like no man's sky to just give me a little researchable ipad that I can remotely do tons of my base and fleet management on. that'd be an enormous QOL improvement, and it wouldn't need to be mandatory for people who like flying out every time.

You have a crew... you paid for them... they should be able to fix it while you are doing your thing..... lol
