Crashed Ships - Repairing?
So i've come across a number of crashed ships, a few with 48 slots but they are badly damaged (lots of the storage slots have rusty electronics or containtment failures etc)

My question is do I have to repair everything to access the storage slots?

Can I add this ship to my collection (if so where do I access said collection)?

Is it even worth repairing these ships with the massive amount of resources and dmaage that it takes (most of the elements I havn't even come across yet)?

Thanks!

I claimed a crashed ship and repaired nothing, turned straight around and got back in my other ship. When I returned to my freighter and reloaded it was up there, still broken but landed in my freighter.

Yes, you have to repair each one.

Yes it'll add the ship to your collection. You access your ship collection in your quick menu. It's on the far right of the ship quick menu and when selected it will show all the ships you own.

Everytime I go to a crashed ship it's not there. Just the shadow of the crashed ship is there. I think my game is bugged. /sadface

Yes, you repair the broken tech and it's now a free slot. 48 slots, definitely worthy if you don't find a similar ship for sale.

It always says "Cannot launch Starship Damaged", the thing is I can never find the ship again to repair it?

Anyway to remotley repair it or something? It's only giving me the names of the ship, not what type it is :(

Same Problem here... "Cannot launch Starship Damaged" how am I supposed to fix it if I can not call it?

I don't know if this was mentioned yet but, you can find a broken ship and then use it to offset the price of a new one. It's worth just as much as a trade in whether it's repaired or not, so find a broken ship and just fly it to a space station and look for a good ship to buy with it. A lot of times, you can get a pretty decent ship for free using this method.

Next time at least fix launchers and/or pulse engine. Anyway, try reloading. Last time it helped me to call totally broken ship after the same message

That's what i was going to ask. I found a hauler at the start of my game. No resources to fix it so, i "added it to my collection". Thinking i'll fix it later when i have ressources and blueprints.

I'm pretty much there now... How do i get to have the ship in front of my to start fixing it?
like, using my ship to gather what i need and coming back to the damaged ship, etc...

Or i'm screwed and i can only trade it for another one when i will buy a new ship...

Those bug keep piling up :(

Use Quick Menu on a planet (X by default on M&KB)

This is what we get by handing out free freighters.

Crashed ships are almost always not worth it, unless they have changed how inventory slots will be locked (not broken, locked) and needed to be unlocked with credits the ship can easily work out to more than a fully repaired ship at a station that may have warp drives you dont have.

It IS worth it, to not repair or unlock those slots and resell the crashed ship on a station. (after having repaired it enough for flight that is)

Unfortunatley it keeps telling me "cannot launch starship damage" and I can port to me to repair it

Can you not just jump in your old ship to look for stuff to bring back?

I know this doesn't help, but I am just buying all of mine. This update added ways to make a lot of money much faster than before and is much more fun imo than the tediousness of trying to locate all the rare resources to repair - and spending even more resources to find the rare ones.

Before NEXT you had to pay units to fix broken slots. The total cost was a bit less than buying a new one and the broken slots didn't affect the ship cost, but people still weren't really happy about it.
So now they changed it to resources and broken slots affecting the cost as I think it should be.

repair the launcher and the pulse drive, fly it up to star station and trade it in on another ship, dont forget to claim a base where your old ship was so you can fly back down and not lose your other ship, i dont know if you can summon an older ship or not. thats how i got my first upgrade

I did the math one time. And my S class explorer that was a crashed ship ended up costing me more than an S class explorer on station. (after unlocking all 29 slots)

This was shortly after pathfinder though so...
