How do I get Mordite?

I need Mordite to learn the language of a race but I haven't come across any in the game so far, so how do I get it please?

Kill animals or find plants/rocks with it as secondary

thank you, I wouldn't have found that as I was planning on being a very peaceful traveller.

And later you can farm it.

Kill creatures, some plants have it as secondary resource, refine coprite (get it from plants or feed animals, they will "produce" it in 10-20 sec)

resources are not on every planet.. I have it on a planet i built my base on.. I could fly back and get the cords if you like before i leave the system.


Outside of that, fly to new planets and scan them from orbit. Mordite should show up on the list of the unique resources.

If you'd prefer to remain peaceful, there are certainly planets with mordite in plants and rocks. Just look for plants and rocks that look a bit like "death" would. Lots of gray, dismal looking things.

You can refine it from Coprit too.

So just to condense this down for others:
1) kill animals - they drop a bunch of it.
2) some plants randomly have it as a secondary drop - scan then harvest (usually the bigger ones)
3) you can farm mordite plants eventually and dont have to destroy/kill anything after that if you dont want to.

Ok I just killed a hosatile critter killing other critters so I feel good still, but it poses a new problem, how do I extract the mordite from the corpse?

I've tried mining laser and terrain manipulators to no effect they just push the corpse away, and I tried melee to the same effect.
