Detritum? [warning: may contain spoilers]

So i started a new save with the Next update and one of the exocraft missions requires you to use the exocraft laser to mine. Now. In the LOG it says Gather "Detritum" (which came out in the pathfinder update and I havn't seen in the Next update).

But when tracking the quest it says "Gather Magnatised Ferrite 0/50. Use the exocraft mining laster to mine exotic rocks"

I know I can refine Ferrite to make Magnatised Ferrite...but what the hell is an exotic rock? I have scanned and roamed around for about 10 minutes now and cannot find anything that gives me magnatised Ferrite. I have checked online and people seem to be having the same issue....

Does anyone know whats going on?

There are Pure Ferrite crystals sometimes but you'll need an advance mining laser to mine those before using your portable refiner to transform it into magnetized ferrite. Your exocraft laser mining tool should do the trick. Hope this helps and enjoy the game :)

Hey, thanks for the reply. Unfortunetly I already knew you could get Pure ferrite and refine it to make magnetized ferrite. But this Missions states that you can mine Magnetised ferrite straight from "exotic rocks" using the exocraft mining laser. Problem is... I cannot find these exotic rocks anywhere and it seems a lot of other people are having the same problem.

I completed the quest already (just refined pure ferrite) but I was searching for about 30 minutes before I just gave up looking for the "exotic rocks"

Unfortniatialy, one of the game breaking bugs makes you not able to mine that more then with your rergular mining lazer ;)

Indeed that's a poor implementation in NEXT from a prior NMS version. I admit
Now thos "exotic" rocks are just the bigger weirder rock formations.
Every planet biome has it's own form in a way or an other with various shapes

You didn't pay attention. The objective is "Gather 50 magnetized ferrite //using a refiner//"

So... I keep notes on each system I get to, and that sometimes includes the individual planets (but not usually).

In my notes for Exp7, I have the following note:

* g10 05 System: Cebrac-Eliwyn: Planet Ennect: Frost Crystal, Magnetised Ferrite, Dioxite, Copper

My note shows I recorded that Planet Ennect has on-the-ground mine-able Magnetised Ferrite.

Edit: Verified - the Discoveries tab shows Ennect as having that.

Note: Re. the necro - well, no one until my post suggested it was anything but a bug or that certain "rock types" were the answer. Well... there's also mine-able nodes of it too. Seems useful to know if you find this thread later via a search or something... /shrug
