Stuck with broken ship?

I flew to an emergency beacon and found a crashed ship.

I went up to the ship and made it my own ship.

I got in and saw it was completely screwed so i got out to get my old ship back.

I couldnt interact with my old ship at all to make it my ship again.

I reloaded my save to try and fix the fact i couldnt interact with it and now my old ship has dissapeared. Now all i have is a completely screwed ship that requires heaps of technology modules and such to repair. How do i get my old ship back?

You can't. But if you are able to make to the space station, you can change it with another (better) ship that don't need repairs. (but you need to have some money)

You will have to fix the one you have found. Thats how it works in the game, If you own a new ship you lose the old one. So before doing that make sure you have the stuff with you to fix the new ship.

I cant make it to a space station because i am stuck with a ship that requires heaps and heaps of rare resources to fix and ive only been playing a few hours. i literally need hundreds of gold and dozens of technology modules.

Is there seriously no way to get my old ship back???

If you are only playing for a few hours then just restart and learn from this error (I had this issue too the first time I played the game).

How is it an error on my part if the game bugged and wouldnt let me interact with my old ship? and then removes it from the game on reload?

How am i supposed to stop this happening in the future?

press X, go towards vehicles and select summon different starship , it will then let you spawn your old one .

You could always see what materials you need to repair it and go find them, mine, refine and craft them. (I personally did not have this problem but I did lose tons of money )

It's not a bug, it's by design. It is understandable you made the mistake though, you are not the only one that made this mistake. If you can't reload an older save then you can only restart or fix that ship.

I feel your pain, but should have looked before you leapt. Only suggetion I can give is find a planetary trade hub, get to it and buy one of the other traders ship using your current broken ship as part payment. you may need a friend in MP to help you find said trading station on the planet. there are ususully one or two.

How is it not a bug that i couldnt interact with my old ship once i chose the other one as my main?

I am looking at clips on youtube and other people have no problem interacting with their old ship

are you actually paying attention to the game? you only have to repair 1-2, perhaps 3 systems which can ALL be repaired found with resources on EVERY planet so you can fly around and trade it for another one.

also, the fact that you now probably have a "better" ship (albeit without much inventory space) means that you can also trade it in for a more valuable (not broken) one for no money at all, since npc dont care about broken parts/inventory space decrease.

also, dont TRADE your ship (after youve gotten a clean one) if you dont wanna lose the old one! theres also an option to add it to your collection which means paying the full cost but having both. up to 6 i believe.
