No compass?
I'm just starting the game, and I just located the hermetic seal. The game tells me to return to my ship, but I don't remember how to get there. A storm hit just as I was on my way, so I navigated my way through fog and cloud. Now that it's cleared up, I don't see any marker where my ship is at. The tooltip in the log says that the ship should be on the compass, on the top of the screen. Well, there is no compass. What am I missing?

You probably haven't installed a visor yet, the game should tell you to do that to find your ship.

That helped, thank you. I haven't seen any mention of needing to do that.

There literally a tutorial promp rightt after picking the seal, saying that you lost your ship, and instructs you to build the visor...

There wasn't. I looked through the log.

It is sometimes easy to miss the notification messages on the bottom right of the screen starting off. The notices cycle through what is needed, and I can see that being missed while trying to take in what's important and what isn't.

You got that fixed, and can see waypoints now, and that's the important thing.

That's weird. It literally shows up on the screen itself and cannot be missed.
I know it's on the bottom right and not huge, but it's almost always there.

Also, the log has nothing to do wit he popups we're talking about.

Didn't pop up for me either had to use my head and figure out how to get back to my ship lol.

How? It says I need to be near ship to install it and it needs carbon nanotubes. I don't understand. It makes no sense to me besides that it's a bug or something.

You have to craft carbon nanotubes. You won't just find them lying around, though I think you can buy them from traders on space stations. You haven't gotten that far yet, so you must craft them.

Go into your inventory, click on any empty square in the cargo area, and it will bring up a window with all the blueprints you have available. One of them will be carbon nanotubes. Click on it to create one. I think it takes 50 Carbon? Don't quote me on the amount, though.

Then, use the nanotubes to make an analysis visor and then you will always seen an icon for your ship and also how far away it is from you on your HUD from that point on.

The instructions clearly tell you to install the scan visor and scan some things. Follow the instructions. The visor is what enables the HUD compass.
