Freighter Inventory Increase?

I just randomly completed the event to get a free capital freighter, but as it only has 15 inventory slots I was wondering if there was any way to increase this? Also does anyone know how to add ships to your fleet as i only have the one i started with atm.

Find a new freighter with more slots and upgrade. Freighters you can buy will have purple icons appear when you get near. Frigates you can buy for your fleet appear as green icons when you start getting close. For frigates you just need to get close to it and answer the comms call and they will give you a summary to buy it from.

Yeah, when ships jump into your system with their Frigates around them (The Little Ships)and they have a green ship symbol, that means you can buy them and add them to your sleep.

This process is dependant on A.I fleets spawning in.


And as fore more inventory slots for Freighters/Capital Ships you basically have to buy better ones. Jumping into systems while there is a battle going on typically has a mid/high teir Captial ships being attacked. If you help that ship out then you geta discounted price when buying it.

I found a 30+ slot A Class in system I warped into ... saved him from the pirates and bought his freighter...

.... although for some reason I can't build anything on this freighter.... my old one had loads of stuff on it ... and some inventory I lost

You have to remember to transfer the inventory from your old ship to the new one -- it used to remind you about this but it doesn't seem to do that any more. Items in storage chests should reappear when you rebuild the chests. Other base items can be recovered if you build a base recovery unit.
