So what do you actually do with these ?

There's a chest in the ruins where you found them, it might be buried, follow the ruins. Three keys are required to open it.

when i found a key i was confused also, but if you look at your scanner under the alien site, there are more buried keys and a buried chest that needs 3 keys to open it, inside was old alien tech i could sell for 500,000 units :D
