What? Freighter???

So i warp to this system right into a battle with some ships and a freighter, i help the freighter and destroy the ships. The alien dude who is captain of the freighter invites me aboard (supposedly, i only know one or two words in their language) i go on their and the dude offers me the frieghter and support ships for free.

I love this game and all, but this is too easy.

Well before you had to shell out 220 million to get one wich made it atrociously grindy & frigs need to be refueled & repaired

You can always refuse. The offer feels a lot less generous once you have a freighter. They aren't the end of the game they just cut down a few of the grinds.

Before "Next" came out I saw Freighters cost 200mil+ which made me choke on my drink.

For me, having 5mil felt amazing but was tough to get reliable sources in my experience.

The first freighter offered is "free" but it's random. You might get a tiny one that's C class, or a huge one that's S class. Or a tiny one that's S class and so on.

I got lucky and got a pretty solid SuperFreighter with 28 slots.
I named it "The Long John" cause it's long.

I kinda agree with this, I think they should add in a short story mode like the base one where you get a cheap starter freighter. My first freighter (free one) was a crappy little 16 slot one which I thought was appropriate but then a buddy of mine got a star destroyer capital freighter for free haha doesn’t make any sense to me.

my freighter is 17 slot c class :P

Is it ok to just sorta leave them, i dont really have the experience to run one efficently, my current starship is only worth about 300k so...

So you complain about the 'free' frighter but I don't see where you complain about the free starship, free multitool, or free space suit. Weird.

im not complaining, i think its funny, and it takes a good amount of stuff to run a frieghter, thats my issue, i dont want to lose it or anything like that.

Honestly the free ship has just been amazing.

Like, the one I got had 28 slots out of a possiblity between 24-32 slots. So it was right in the middle. The ship is Corvax run and with the frigates I have now and the ship blossuming into a mobile base with refineries and farms I feel like I'm a real adventurer now.

I never wanted to build a base because I hated the idea of leaving it behind and having to use a portal to get it to. But now my base comes with me as I explore the galaxy!

Ditch them for as long as you want. If you need your freighter again, hit x, and select summon freighter while in space. Your freighter should warp infront of you with a brilliant flash of light.

They are good for functioning as floating storage containers

guys, i got not long ago A class freighter with 38 slots, but lost all my cargo on previous freighter. and that was like 18mil cargo worth =_= damn it.

I agree. When I first heard people talking about free freighters I started looking up the quest walkthroughs because I expected that was how we would get it.

Yes, but if you want the bigger and cooler freighters, then you have to buy them. You get a free freighter as introduction to the freighter/ship mechanics. It is like getting a free Fiat and then you start to save for the Ferrari :)

nope, when you get your new freighter, old freighter no longer avaible by summoning it. i tryed it some time ago.

It requires nothing whatsoever to own a freighter except possibly warp fuel, which you should already know how to make. Just saying.

To everyone else, the game is RNG. Don't like it? Use a save file editor.

the third system i jumped into this happened but i already bought an A class frieghter that was way better then the one it offered for free.
