ED is cool for what it is though
Why? I thought NMS was now fully co-op?
It is, but I think that if OP is leaning more for a co-op experience, that ED would be better than NMS.
NMS is so much more fun with friends
Edit
Also it’s important to note that
Elite dangerous is more of a space combat simulator, so if your into that... and not much else.
Still say NMS is a clear winner, wish I could flush my brain and experience NEXT like it was day one.
I didn't play much of ED, but I have heard a lot of stories about how fun the co-op is in that game. But yeah, you're probably right.
I guess I would say, if you're leaning more towards a casual, friendly co-op experience, go with NMS, but if you want more of a challenging experience with other people, ED.
They have two things in common... the grind is real, and they have the word "space" on the box.
ED's best part is the Horizons expanson. If you can't afford that and the main game then wait until it is put on sale. It is a great game, and there is a lot you can do in coop, but you need friends that are willing to stick with it long enough, or you need to find an org. It is due for a major update on Q4 so, try to get it during the Autum sale.
ED doesn't need a joystick. Some of the top pilots fly with a mouse and kb. There are huge PvE groups where you can play safely, and plenty of good organizations to join. Most activities offer rewards for playing as a team, but you can play the game on your own if you so desire. There is plenty of action on the weekly events, but you have to look out for it. It is a sandbox game.
NMS is on sale right now. It is simplistic, but the documentation is incomplete. If anything, the grind is even more severe. The MP is a nice addition, but this is a Solo game at its core. I found it worth the money, specially with the discount.
it's like comparing euro truck simulator, to GTA.. both game you drive about in.. but theyre very differnt.
