Explorer-class ships
...did anyone notice they cost *half* the usual Launch Thruster fuel to lift off? No modules, seemingly just a class bonus. I swear, their scanner feels more powerful, too.

Do other ships have neat little bonuses like this?

I have seen somewhere that inddeed ship had various launch cost, but I haven't played with my explorer on older save and still on a fighter in my fresh start.

Thanks for the head up, I know I'll definitely get an explorer again (+ I really like the look of some)

I should say "kind of more powerful", I guess. It seems REALLY good at detecting Trading Posts... Not so great at finding other stuff? I dunno. Scanners seem really wonky.

Anyone know if haulers and fighters have special bonuses too? Can haulers hold more resources per slot for example?

Shuttle - Balanced
Ships of this type have balanced stats, with no significant class bonus compared to the other archetypes. These ships look typically blocky with a rectangular canopy, but some ships in this class have a tubular fuselage. Shuttles do not have a large inventory tier, but are great for starter travelers due to their cheap cost and increased low-tier inventory space.

Fighter - Damage Bonus
Wing shape of Fighters with large inventory
Ships of this type feature a damage potential class bonus. These ships are the mascot ships of No Man's Sky, and are also the primary starships of pirates across the galaxy.

Explorer - Hyperdrive Bonus
Wing shape of Explorers with large inventory
Ships of this type feature a hyperdrive range class bonus. These ships are the most unusual looking out of all the other starships, with some appearing bug-like and slender, while others feature massive engine block additions.

Hauler - Shield & Inventory Bonus
Ships of this type feature a shield absorb class bonus, and they also boast the highest possible inventory spaces. These ships are the largest out of all the other starships, and may or may not have wing features on them.

Exotic - High & Balanced Stats
Exotic is a special ship type. Ships of this type stand out for their high stats and high price. All exotic ships are also S-class.

Haulers just generally have a high cargo slot count.

Fighters weapons will almost always do more damage, might cool down a bit faster too.

Shuttles are all rounders, they can have various bonuses but its generally a build a ship, usually a decent tech slot count.

i've never owned an exotic but they are stat wise, like a super shuttle. the real good ones can probably outclass your normal fighters at S class, and some can have cargo like a hauler. as for the launch fuel bonus and such beats me. i didnt notice that bonus at all when i had my old one. but that coulda been a bug with old files.

This is old info though, next seems to have changed some things, the launch fuel cost reduction for explorer ships is new for example and not on the wiki. Which is why I'm wondering about the other ship types.

Explorers use less fuel to take off, down to 10% with launchers upgrade. Flying one myself

Speaking of launcher upgrades, where do you get them? I can't craft them and stores don't seem to have them either.

I regret removing mine now. I fear pre-installed might be the only way to get it.

You're not wrong there, used to be once apon a time your scanner actually scanned for things, scanning a planet multiple time would reveal buildings, monoliths, etc , etc. Now its not used for much else other than finding out the name and what type of planet it is.

The space station ship vendor sells Launcher upgrades. I always take note when I find S class.
