How do you get INSIDE a crashed freighter ?
I found a crashed freighter (my god this collision box is so bad) and if I go under certain spots it tells me I've enter the crashed freighter and that I'm inside a building. However, I can't seem to be able to ACTUALLY get inside. How the hell do I do that ? Do I just dig around until I find an entrance ?

You don't? You can't. All they are for is dig sites to use your terrain manipulator around for tech, nanites, money, and warp cells.

I assume you can since it says you can interact with the terminal AND counts as a building.

terminal is for retrieving freighter's logs so you could start digging after containers with your terrain manipulator and locating them with your scanner. have fun :)

It's telling me the terminal is INSIDE the crashed ship which counts as a building you can enter.

The whole freighter site is a building. the terminal is outside (but technically inside). It's the round ball that is sitting on top of a broken box.
Shame you can't repair and fly them like regular ships...

If I get under SOME parts of the ship (collision box is messed up) that prompt pops up

Yup. I run through there often. But have yet to find anything... and you can't dig since the game believes you are inside.

Sad. :-\

the terminal "ball" should be in the middle of the wreck on the planet surface atop of the captains bridge remains. use jetpack to get to it. it's flashing with sparks of the damaged circuitry.

Crashed freighters, like all structures, create a "building region", within that region, if the player is in any sutation the game considers "safe from weather conditions", it will treat it as if you just entered the interior of the building.

You can easily force this behaviour by digging at a 30 degree downwards angle, after you reach far enough from a opening, the game goes "Hey, this is covered enough so you dont take environmment damage!" and you will immediately get the building message + lose the ability to dig any further.

Simply a quirk of how NMS handles all its structures, nothing more.

Can't even imagine what amount of ressources you'd need to patch up a ship that size. :D

Like "Collect or refine 100,000 pure ferrite to repair the hull."? xD

If you are patient enough and don't accept the first Frieghter Offered to you that is probably at best a C class you may avoid paying 10's or even 100's of millions for a great higher B, A, or who knows possibly and S Class frieghter....Wish someone had let me in on that before I settled for first one offered.

Took me two hours and a dozen reloads or so to get my free S class freighter.

I lost my save game a week ago.

That would be just to refill the terrain manipulator digging it out, the hull will require running alloys through several refiner cycles!

Yeah, this happens at certain Artifacts as well. You can be "inside" the artifact building. It's just a space that can hold 1 to 2 players, but you're inside it. Just like the crashed freighter
