where tf is copper

I'm trying to do the opening quest and I have to gather some copper, I ran like 1000m to a copper deposit and used 2 batteries worth of the terrain modulator making a crater the size of the one that killed the dinosaurs and didn't find any copper at all. Do I just have to keep digging deeper? Where is the ♥♥♥♥ing copper?

Copper should be on you're second planet. SHOULD be.

I am on the second planet. I found the copper deposit, I'm right above it, but no matter how deep I dig I havent gotten any copper

That would be straight up hilarious.

OP, you can also find copper as a secondary resource in rocks and outcrops sometimes, often underground in caves. You have to use your visor and scan for them though as they will just show ??? as a secondary resource until you scan it.

If you're using the terrain manipulator, and not the mining tool, and see 'copper' listed when you're aiming, you should get some.

it gives nothing when you use the terrain manipulator on it... just burns it up.

You can even see the wireframe little bits that are missed and aiming at those just does nothing or burns them up too.

I think I have gotten this, I went to a copper ore marker and there was no copper. Just look around for another copper deposit and try again.

yeah so i think it was a bug.I found another copper deposit and there was an actual giant lump of copper in the ground. But the first spot I went to there was no copper at all, unless it was buried super deep

Most planets have it, just scan them. You will need a terrain manipulator though. When you get to the planet scan with your visor and it will show up in the HUD.

Hey, had the same issue and noticed that it's because of pretty bad UI. When you access the Portable Refiner and then open the "Input" option, you can cycle through the different materials you have. If you use W and S on your keyboard (by default), you'll see more rows of materials and one of them is that darn copper. :) Took me ages too to find it.

it will be a yeallow rusty bulge sticking out of the ground near where it says copper deposit

MobyPhallus I had trouble with this too but if you go to the planet Reshi 68/Y5 and go to the caves, use the visor on the stalagmite looking things. They have minerals like cobalt and copper.
