No Man's Sky is Region Restricted???

So I'm trying to buy the game for my friend as a gift, he lives in the US and I live in Canada, but for some odd reason I'm getting ♥♥♥♥-blocked from purchasing it for him because there's a region restriction because of price differences???? Or am I just doing something wrong here....

When buying games for friends I normally go to somewhere like Kinguin, since Kinguin is likely to be censored I will say it like this king followed by uin, they will send you a CD key you can give to your friend and he can simply click add game in the bottom left.

They blocked gifting it there is more than 10 percent price difference between the two regions or something like that. It's pretty ridiculous.

It's probably because of regional pricing.
