Starting world always Toxic / Cold / HOT .... etc
Is it normal to always start on a planet that is either always too cold, too toxic, too hot etc. Is it possible to start on a planet that is normal and wont kill you in the first 30 mins of gameplay?

yeah every planet is pretty much always toxic cold or hot but you can find exo suit upgrades that make you more tollerant in the conditions of the plantet you are on
I don't think you have a chance to start on a non hostile planet since the first update. Learning to survive the hostile planet and wanting to get off it ASAP is all part of the gameplay since then.

Yes it's normal. It's to teach you basic survival skills. If there isn't a cave nearby for shelter feel free to restart, especially if you're playing on survival.

It's part of the tutorial. This IS a survival game. Use caves to protect yourself from the elements, gather materials to restore your hazard shielding and life support between caves.

Ok, Thank you, everyone. Yes, I haven't returned back to play the game since this major update and the first planet I was on initially did not have this, but it certainly makes more sense now. The planet I'm on at the moment does have a cave nearby so all good!

Thanks once again

@AarkTheDragon This is not always possible and should have been restricted to the Survival setting and above, not the Normal setting. As per the description of the game, "Original gameplay style with regular difficulty". The original game I bought and played had a non hostile environment at start. I couldn't have cared less about all this survival garbage. The game has been ruined. If you want survival, play ARK, OSIRIS New Dawn, Subnautica and many others. This game is now garbage.

It's like Hello Games can't win for losing. I had no trouble with the new startup at all.

Yikes. Dead planets are very tough in the beginning. Have to be conscious of each step taken.

Funny thing though, when I bought this game, it WASN'T a survival game, it was an exploration game.

It's also to encourage you to hurry up and fix your ship so that you can get off planet and experience the other types of gameplay.

My last game, I crossed 47 solar systems and only found 1 single planet that didn't require environmental protection. There's always planets with no atmosphere - those don't have weather. BUT, they drain your life support instead. Plus (before this patch which I haven't tried), there were never spots to build a base on them.

This. In 2016, about 1 in 3 planets were cozy and didn't require any environmental protection. Also, there was much more flora and so many lush planets with huge forests and tall grass.

So I have not played since launch. Damn is the game different. As someone above said this was not a survival game at all back then. I started on a non hazardous planet and it was way easier. My friend and I tried survival last night and we could not make any progress. We got stuck trying to make the life support gels in order to make a 800u track, but every time I'd get a gel I'd need another. It felt like an endless annoying grind. So we gave up on survival and switched back to normal mode.

You still start on a hazardous planet, but at least it's not an endless grind now.

True, but there were so many complaints, a number of them on this board actually, pointing out that so many lush planets wasn't realistic and wanted more dead and/or inhospitable planets to make the game more "fun" and challenging. So, you know, blame your fellow gamers, I suppose.
