I findnthem frequently being sold from ships on the stations.

I bought some in the Ladia - Yefir system (from the space station) which is Corvax owned and less than 100 LY from where I was, so within intial warp jump range.

Yeah can someone confirm if this is a bug?

I went to an unknown building called whall workshop in a gek solar system and after I broke down the door and restored the facility it gave me the blueprint although I haven’t tried to build it yet but it shows it in my crafting list

Let us know if it let you build, at least then it confirms that we only need the blueprint.

I just checked and it can be crafted. It requires 40 sodium nitrate and 40 ferrite dust

Is this done in the inventory crafting or in a processor? I've got 40 and 40, but still no ability to craft the diode.

You can buy the blueprint with nanite clusters in space stations from certain vendors

Keep raiding manufacturing plants and operations centers to get the blueprint.

Whenever you look at Crafted Products or Technology in the Guide, look for the crossed-tools icon on items of interest. If the icon is present, that means you have the blueprint, so you can craft it in inventory with the necessary ingredients.

If the icon is not present for an item you have discovered, one of two scenarios may be at play:
  1. The item's blueprint can be obtained, but you do not have it yet. You will need to find the blueprint first (Manufacturing Facilities and Operations Centres hold a lot of the valuable crafted product blueprints) before you can craft the item in inventory.
  2. The item's blueprint cannot be obtained. Pinning the recipe will instead give a hint as to how you can obtain the item outside of crafting (refining, buying from trade terminals, killing advanced Sentinels, etc.).

Concerning Sodium Diode and related components (Cobalt Mirror, Salt Refractor, Oxygen Filter): Until you happen upon their blueprints yourself, these components are most reliably obtained from space station trade terminals and alien starships parked inside space stations.

Can you specify which vendors?

I got the sodium diode blueprint from raiding manufactoring plants (find them with navigational data - change it for Secure Site charts from the navigation guy at the space station). When you succefully raid a manufactoring plant anmd solve the puzzle/question in there, you will get a bonus which could be "LEARN A NEW RECIPE". choose that and then choose SODIUM DIODE (P.S. there are two pages to choose from)
