i think you're reffering to albumen pearls, not the same thing.
the sentinels come after you when you gather albumen pearls, but with the whispering egg once you blow it up a horde of aliens attack you.
i dont think the core or eggs even existed before NEXT.
Yea those eggs don't but I found an albumen pearl in the egg by pressing E next to it
I remember them being on the ground on a planet prior to next
I've noticed that sentinels don't care if you harvest pearls from humming eggs. However, try to harvest them from sentient plants, and they'll instantly be alerted and come after you. Anyway, I just use the terrain manipulator to dig a funnel-shape below each patch of whispering eggs, since the horror critters currently have AI that is too stupid to chase after me underground. I just dig, clean out the entire clutch of eggs, and wait for the swarm to subside. I repeat with each clutch, and get filthy rich. :)
Bought a whole fleet of Freighters in an hour doing this!
