How to make magnetised ferrite?

The game say put ferrite dust in a refiner to make magnetised ferrite but that makes pure ferrite.
Am I missing something?

You need to put pure ferrite in the refiner. Ferrite dust makes pure ferrite and pure ferrite makes magnetised ferrite. I got stuck as well at first, it's badly explained.

Second step - put pure ferrite in the input and start again - output then is magnetized ferrite.

Oh for @5$@ sake are you kidding me, here I was thinking the quest wasn't updating or was bugged. Built a second port refinery, started a new game. This is really......just beyond words for 5%@$ sake...

You're wrong. The game doesn't tell you anything or even hint at what you have to do. There's literally no other games where you have to process something twice to get something. Stop being ignorant.

szepiz is correct here, the tutorial up until that point does a great job. But when it tells you to put Ferrite DUST into the Refinery, and then magicially you get energized ferrite, It my friend, is plain wrong, NOT the player.

See it as a hint. At this point, you know what you get when you put Dust in your Refinery, so why not try to put the refined ferrite in the input?

I could be wrong but I think it only tells you to put ferrite dust in there if you don't have enough pure ferrite yet, so it's telling you what to do correctly in order but it's still confusing because from the description you kind of expect to get magnetized ferrite from ferrite dust. I also tried to find if I maybe have to change what the end product will be from ferrite dust. But honestly, if you use your brain it doesn't take long to figure out to maybe try and put pure ferrite in just to see if that maybe yields magnetized ferrite.

If you use your brain you follow the instructions lol, and if you look at the device it looks obvious that it has a mode you can change which is why I was stuck for so long . Maybe think about it as well guys eh? Gamer for over 20 years and it wasn’t obvious to me, getting magnetised cobalt was more straight forward because it’s a one step process, see the logic here. Almost looks like an oversight

Soooo... uuuh... was I the only one who was curious enough to put all the materials in the refiner just to see the output? And then the outputs back in the refiner just because, again, I was curious to see what they would become?

No, it's the player. He's pointing out that modern gamers need to be hand held through everything. Even the simplest concepts elude them.
