To turn off multiplayer and play solo do the following.

1. Go to your game let it load

2. Once in game go to options click on Network and Voice

3. Click on Network play until it reads off

4. Enjoy playing solo.

I have had my online play on even after seeing that in the options. Your post makes me curious, has someone joined your game? Does it happen randomly? I haven't encountered anyone yet.

It can happen randomly if someone gose to join a mulit game and then picks the option to join randomly. They could be placed in your game I did that when the patch first came out.

Thanks for the tip. Didn't mind if people joined me at first, hell, I was lookin forward to it. Sadly, I live in SEAsia, which meant I just got a bunch of Chinese people show up today and be totally unresponsive (and I was speaking Chinese...). Why even join a game if you don't want to communicate, or even to attempt a fight?

Wait a minute... Now I have something fun and new to try! If at first they don't talk, my fighter is fairly decently armed and shielded hehehe

I have that turned off and some random people joined my game, asked me if I wanted to trade. When I said I didn't have anything, they proceeded to kill me then leave my game. either turning networking off does the opposite for some reason or they found some other way in. The whole reason I play solo is so I don't have to deal with the morons that just PVP.

Turn it off, EXIT game, come back in, it will be off then.

I've had it off since I started, i've turned the game off and on reapetedly since, and left it off. It just didn't work, idk how they found and got into my game, but it was kind of annoying. Otherwise really enjoying the game.

Yes it does happen. At the moment, there are a few people going around deleting bases on random people, because they can. When you join a random game you are literally put in their system, can see their markers etc. Fly down to their base and......... delete the whole lot.
Can also delete the stuff on your freighter (if any)

Of course, if you have no base or are in a completely different system, with no base / freighter, it doesn't matter so much.

I've put 40 hours or so into the game and have had network set to on the entire time but have yet to see anyone join my game

There's a lot of people playing, not everybody wants to join random games because it teleports you away from your 'own' game, so to speak. But if they do... be mindful.

"Join random" is a dangerous button at the moment (Griefer friendly)

A guy I joined last night said I was the first player he saw in about 160 hours, even so, it eventually happened :P But I'm not a griefer, so just checked out his awesome base and went on my merry way.

I still get people joining even when it's off. And without a push to talk option I will never be on voice. I cuss way too much out loud in this game. Before I knew voice was always active, some chick in my game asked me if I was ok lol. I was like who the heck is talking to me.

I wish i just could have my friends in the game, but no random strangers..
Pretty annoyed by the fact its or Solo, or free for all to join.

For now we just kick any randomers who join in onto our lobby, nothing personal

how do you kick, since turning off network doesn't stop people from joining you if they hit join random? I guess i'm lucky that i'm a newb and don't have a freighter yet, and the base I have was far away. Though even if they had deleted it, it wouldn't of really been a big loss it's just a box with nothing really in it.

Yeah, the always on voice is perturbing and is one more thing on the QoL fix list :(

Thanks for the info. That is messed up . I am lucky that hasn't happened to me. I am pretty sure I had a ton of ionized cobalt stolen from refiners though.

This doesn't work, I've turned this off and I always still get people randomly joining my game. People say its about 50/50 on weather it works or not, but even when I switch network off, I still get people joining. Turning it off after they have joined just means you can't talk to them, they still appear in the system. The only way to really stop it, is by NOT turning off network player, and just simply kicking people from your game. Seems to be the only sure way of playing alone.

Hope this gets fixed because you're supposed to be able to opt out of MP for thoses that don't want it.
