can never get quicksilver or community events

I am using Windows 8, have played NMS for hours, and can never get quicksilver or community missions. I have gotten a couple of encrypted missions, though. I've seen posts for a fix for Win7 (something about TLS)... is there one for Win8? or does that same Win7 fix work for Win8?

If you look under Log (type Esc) do you see the Community progress bar? If not, then maybe look into this. It may affect Windows 8 too.

It might not be so obvious. Are you on Windows 7? There's a network protocol used by the game that does not work in Win7 unless you manually fix a registry issue.

Thanks. the TLS 1.1 and 1.2 can be enabled through Win8 "Internet Options", under the ADVANCED tab. I just downloaded the KB3140245 update for win8. till need to restart and see if it did any help.

Currently, still not seeing any quicksilver events. Maybe I'll just have to wait until I can afford Win10. :(

Sorry. I'm still on Windows 7 with the update and all is well (please no one go on about Win 7 being dead). I have a Win 10 machine.

Do you see the progress for Tier 1 , 2, and 3 when you look under Log?

I have a game rig with Win7 (apart from a Win10 gaming laptop which runs the game even better). On my rig it works with the solution above, but you must apply both fixes, the 'Easy Fix' , then the other one. You must restart computer I think.
In Win10 this TLS modification is NOT necessary, don't do it.

the EasyFix doesn't work on Win8. :/
I'll just suffer until can get win 10 installed.

Other than getting Win 10 which is clearly better (Win8 is not very good for gaming I heard): Did you start the Easy Fix with Administrator Rights? (right-click the app and chose open with admin rights). It should work then.

It already starts it in Administrative mode. Still says "this easy fix does not apply to your operating system or application version"

Ran the EasyFix in "compatibility" for previous windows. it ran. still need to see if it worked.

Hey man you do know that you can still for free upgrade win 8 to 10 right? windows 7 & 8 keys are actually valid as keys when installing windows 10 through microsofts media creation tool, and it's completely legal too. added you if you need any help with it
