Does ship inventory space upgrades get lost if you scrap the ship?
As indicated by the title, I've bought quite a few space upgrades to a ship, but then found a better looking ship that I'd like to swap to. I'm hesitating 'cause I don't want to lose all the space I've put into the current one. I know you can randomly get Storage Augmentations when you scrap ships, do purchased slots turn into those, or do they just go poof in the scrapping?

Before scrapping any ship you should REMOVE everything which can be dismantled, otherwise it will be scrapped as well with no compensation for you. So for example, dismantle a auto-recharger for the thruster, upgrades etc. Transfer everything contained in the ship slots and be sure to have enough room in your exosuit, transfer everything before scrapping.

Inventory space does NOT transfer

With higher inventory space you will get more credits accordingly when scrapping. Scrapping a 30 slot ship gets you more credits than a 19 slot ship. That's all, after scrapping another of your ships will be placed in the space station, it will not be changed in any way.

In my experience, the ship that's placed there is the oldest one you have, so keep that in mind.

Purchasing slots or using Storage Augmentations has no effect on the chances of getting Storage Augmentations when scrapping. If you have put a billion units into upgrading a ship those units are gone.

Alright! Thank you all for the information. Based on this, the nicer looking ship shall stay stored until I've caught it up in space, or then I'll stick with my current one. =)

If they are the same arctyope (fighter, explorer, ECT) you can use a save editor to swap the seeds.
