Is it possible to move my entire base elsewhere?
For example, I have found a new planet and wish to move there, would I be able to move my entire base there? Even after I work the terrain to make it able to accommodate my base?

I know that you can move a base computer around on a planet with a save editor, but I don't know that you can move an entire base, completely built, to another planet.
You'll just have to build it again in the new location or, if you want to abandon the old base, build a Base Salvage Capsule, delete your base, go to the new location and build the capsule there, retrieve your resources from the old base, and use them to rebuild it in the new location.

Yeah, I thought so too. Thanks, man, for reassuring.

Moving your base elsewhere has the effect to make your base or floating in the air or buried in the ground because the new place doesn't have the same terrain configuration. This is what I see when using the editor to move a base, which means it's really only worth to do for constructions that go high in the air, so I just need to unbury the basis of the construction after finding a suitable terrain. It's instead a pain to adjust for bases that have a large ground extend without going very high.

If you want all the material back, then you have to manually remove the base bit by bit, if you delete the base in BC you only get 50% back.

You do not need the capsule before removing the base, build it when you start the new base, and then you have the material there that you did not remove manually.

As japp_02 said, it probably won't work the way you want it. All the items you build are listed in the save file as relative to the base computer location, so wherever you put the computer, your hallway or whatever will still be 10u north and 2u up from the base computer, which will almost never work how you want.

The three exceptions would be a mid-air base, a floating base, or a base completely underground.

As long as you have a similar terrain the save editor allows you to clone any base content and apply it to any base computer with great success (sometimes an item's missing) in integrating the clone to its new terrain. I've made some well integrated clones on curved terrains, it's just that the larger the base the harder it is to be precise.

Final thoughts: Unless you don't mind cleaning out your base, iIt is best to not build on the ground...especially if you are using the terrain editor to flatten it. The materials will come back and/or you will have grass growing on the floor.

For two years, about every six months the Devs say they "fixed" it, but it always comes back.
