You get a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
1. Collect a fair amount of copper, i usually get about 200 or so.
2. I convert about half to chromatic metal using pure ferrite to reduce the rate to 1:1.
3. I put copper and chromatic metal into the refiner to double my copper.
4. Rinse. Repeat.
(This does require a lot of pure ferrite but collecting rusted metal provides more than enough.)
I do have a Medium refiner, so.. maybe there's hope?
1... Refine 2/3rd of your copper to chromatic metal (So you have just as much Chromatic as Copper)
2... Refine Chromatic and Copper to get 4x copper
repeat 1 and 2...
If you do use Pure Ferrite, you do not need 2/3rd of your copper, but Half. The reason i do not use it, is because it is more handling and i am lazy... My solution works good enough.
BTW. This also works for Cadmium, Emeril and Indium.
Last BTW. If you have the large refiner, you could also refine 1 Silver, 1 Gold and 1 Copper to get 5 Chromatic metal (10 if Cadmium, 20 if Emeril, 30!! if Indium)
It's not a bug so it wouldn't be patched. It's one of the recipes I use most.
without pure ferrite in the mix you are making chromatic metal at 2 copper for 1 chromatic metal then converting chromatic metal back to copper at 1 copper and 1 chromatic metal for 2 copper... seems to me that adding pure ferrite increases the output and with the abundant rusted metal making so much ferrite which makes pure ferrite there is no reason not to use it
but it is the player's choice, after all
Convert 2 indium into 4 chromatic metal
Convert 4 indium + 4 chromatic into 8 indium
Repeat the ratio forever to basically create indium (and thus chromatic metal) out of thin air.
But so is just buying chromatic metal. Find a station that sells large quantities and just stock up.
easy to convert with a refinery
the higher the quality of the material the higher the conversion ratio
Activated indium is the best
The indium is special has you can duplicate it endlessly and so make river of chromatic.
take 12 Indium
use a third (4) in refiner will give you 8 Chromatic. So now you have 8 Indium + 8 Chromatic
put them in refiner 8 Indium + 8 Chromatic => 16 Indium.
Start again.
So if you start with 180 Indium, make it 14 time and you will have more than 10K Indium that you can refine in 20K chromatic.
(you can't do it with "activated ****" as you can only get them by mining and not by refining)
If you're worried about losing faction points just collect the relics to give to NPCs later.
Much more fun and more than enough for me. Quick and easy using the right weapon and protection.
