Do you guys run the game from an ssd by any chance ? I do and was wondering if that may be the cause as my brothers Pc has a normal hdd and pretty much the same specs same gpu .. His doesnt do it though ... I also came from the dev branch but i deleted the game and re downloaded it to no avail its still broken

Thinking of swapping my gpu out with his and try to see if its the gpu . I cant test the ssd theory though..
I have the same Issue with tessellation, I have the game installed on SSD, only gets fixed if I turn tessellation to standard (off) all other settings have it on ultra and runs at 60 fps

Same issue here on a 1070Ti (Palit) only noticed it recently too.
Yeah bro ive tested on my system .

My Specs
i9-9900k
16gb corsair VPRO 3200MHZ
Z390-F Strix Gaming
Asus 1070ti Strix
Samsung NVME 970 Pro Plus 256GB
HP500 Somthing or other lol 500gb SSD

My brothers
i7-4790k
16gb HyperX 1800mhz
ROG Maximus Hero 7 mobo
Msi 1070ti Twin Froza Gaming X
SSHD 1tb Seagate

Both Systems display the same symptoms . Load in and 3 to 5 min later the Tesselation on the ground textures start bugging out and going from pixelated then ups it slowly . As seen in the IMGUR images of my link and my brothers link which is this profile.

Its def a game issue and not hardware related .. Guess we wait for the devs to patch it or notice it at first then get to patching it..

Excellent testing, thank you for confirming it's not a hardware thing.
Same here, but only on terrain i modified with the multi tool, "vanilla" terrain does not do that.
I have a potato Haswell I7 4770, some random board and a 1060 from 4 years ago, and have none of this issues. Consider downgrading, it's healthy :P
Jokes aside, dont run any cryptominers on the background or forget that HULU stream playing. Also, updates come tied to new drivers, so get them updated as well.

I don't believe that, I have a Sandy Bridge i7 as does my brother-in-law, we both run the game off SSD, he has a 970 and I have a 1060 and we've both seen this issue. Either you're running terrain tessellation at "low" or you've had the issue and are just oblivious (not sure how you couldn't notice as it's blindingly obvious). I also run minimal background apps on a well maintained machine - this is an issue with the game engine, not our PCs.

It is the game but it did help a little changing the HighNumThreads in config file to have +1 and turned on Texture Streaming. I also turned textures to High and Tessellation to High, but it does not go away 100%. Red Dead Redemption 2 does not have any issues with Textures and that gave is on Ultra 4k. Turning off Tessellation will fix it but then everything is flat looking so rather deal with some Texture issues that Flatness.

The game caches tessellated geometry, but for some reason this causes a lot of issues (much more than re-generating it on the fly, that is).

Updating video drivers could help, but if you want to get rid of these problems once and for all, you should use my mod:

I downloaded this and its working great with everything on Utra. I will try some other planets, but so far Im liking it alot. They need to pay you to put this option in the game :-)
To be honest this game has been 'suffering' from very low draw distance and LOD quality since release. The major patches did add content and things to do, the game is a lot more structured now and you can follow quests and so on. But when it comes to the distance at which things are rendered, the speed of the rendering, the efficiency of the engine, and also the overall radius of procedural generation for Fauna and Flora (and other minor things and objects) it's been horribly low, and slow since day one.

And their move to Vulkan didn't seem to do anything better in that regard. It's hard coded, it's engine-based; they'd probably have to re-do their whole procedural generation system from scratch and of course I'm not expecting them to do so. But on the current console generation I can't understand why draw distance is such a problem when we have games (in this generation) proving how big distances can be dealt with well enough (Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War both have some pretty amazing LoD and draw distances with a LOT more overall detail in the scenery in comparison to No Man's Sky).

What I hope they'll do is make a complete overhaul of their procedural / texture streaming / rendering stuff for their updates on the next generation systems (because you bet they'll release the game on PS5 and Series X, probably not immediately but give it one or two years after and it's gonna be out for those).

For now all we can do is to use some mods here and there to brute-force better draw distances, generation of animals (at a higher distance) and 'fix' issues with textures. It's better than nothing, but the Devs should be doing it, not the community.
Gotta say that mod is working great on all planets so far with everything set at ultra. Thanks for making that mod buddy 👍

Thank you, pal.
I'm glad it worked.
