I had built two Bases on this Planet. The first base had no issues. After experimenting a ton with building, build order of Structures etc. I found out what contributed to this happening (to me):
-
(1) Issue found on another Planet (‘red’ parts that won’t connect to Structures, no green Nodes showing, nothing ‘snapping’ together), possibly related to this Thread issue
If I build a Structure BEFORE putting a Base Computer down, even after the Base Computer is started up and the space Claimed for a Base, the previously-built Structure will STILL not allow Doors/Corridors/etc to be built to it (they will show RED and not show the 'Green Orb' Nodes and not 'snap' to anything on the built-before-placing-base-computer structures).
If I wait and build a Base Computer FIRST, then build any Structures, those Structures will allow parts to be connected to it, properly showing the 'Green Orb' Nodes and 'snap' things to itself properly.
So to Summarize the first thing I found out, that I wanted to share, was (1): Build the Base Computer first, before placing down any Structures

(2) Issue found on this Planet (after building two Bases, suddenly ‘red’ parts that won’t connect to Structures, no green Nodes showing, nothing ‘snapping’ together), created this Thread
Another thing I remembered, when I started having this issue, is that I had a Base started already not too far away - that base was actually the first one that I put down on the planet, after landing. It was after building that base a bit up (a few Large Structures, a few Interior items like a Trade Terminal) that I started to look for a Power source (Power emanation location, where you build an Electromagnetic Generator on top of it).
After locating the Power spot, I put up a Generator up top and noticed I was a bit away from my Base I had started (about 300 Units). I decided to start a Base closer to the power node/source, so I started a Second Base there (with another Base Computer). The Base Computer let me Claim the area (perhaps it should not have?) and I began to build up this second Base, which is where I ran into the issue of it ‘not snapping parts together correctly after placing a few parts without problem.
In my investigation of this issue and experimentation, I found that this Second Base connected parts properly AFTER I DELETED/REMOVED the First Base (the one I put a few Structures down when I first landed on the Planet).
I am not 100% sure, but I think the two Bases were too close together (they were about 300 Units apart), as once I deleted the first Base, the second Base began to continue operating/snapping properly.

Sorry to put this all in one Post, but I wanted to share this information as a whole, in case it helps anyone else running into ‘red parts that won’t connect or snap to Structures’. While this was only my experience (YMMV), it was essentially two things:
TLDR;
- don’t build anything before putting down a Base Computer (if you want to connect more to it)
- don’t build a Base too close to another Base you have built (you may have to delete one)
I hope this makes sense, I kind of have a 'scatter brain' and don't always put down my thoughts clearly, heh. HTH ~T
