I know 9 times out of ten when someone posts here is just complaining but really? This is really silly. Like, very very silly. If this is what is stopping you from playing the game then idk what to tell you... you are strange.

Try this: if you don't want to land, don't!
the problem is tag command while in-flight on PC. if you try it and move your aim out of marker being tagged the landing sequence begins. totally unintentionally.

you may try to re-bind keys though...

It took me a while to understand the problem because I rebound tag as soon as I installed NMS so never saw the issue...
I think you've hit on wider point that NMS seems to run all modes of the interface at the same time, like how picking up and object toggles the plasma launcher. Making it a little more context sensitive would sort out a lot of minor bugs.
That said, I can't think of a game where cancelling landing was ever a thing.

Yeah... Once committed to the Auto-Land procedure, you are basically stuck landing until the ship touches down on the pad.

I frankly don't see a problem with this. The entire process takes literally less than 5 seconds to complete.

NO problem, I took pics, I don't have a way to "film it" cos I don't know how to. sorry, But I did it twice in a row and had no problem taking off immediately without exiting my ship.

I have pics, the most recent ones in my library but when I copied the pic locale to put here it put some pic that has nothing to do with it. NOW how to erase you "notepad" so you grab new pics... LOL Just look at my library

the only game i know of that this is a feature is elite dangerous. and in most cases its because you dont have a docking computer. because you are landing the ship yourself.

Not sure if there are any, but most don't have it automatic... You can abort on your own at any time. Take away all the auto mechanics in this game and you got a game within the game. But that isn't logical to many for some reason..... They need things handed to them on a plate instead of learning.

I don't think there is any condition in any situation in any professional use of a craft where the pilot is committed to a function they can't abort. That spells disaster. Of course in a game....that may be what the devs are shooting for.

I fly with an xbox controller. A is fire, X is land. I have --when I haven't played in a while --accidentally hit X when, say, shooting at a depot only to have to wait 5 seconds for the landing procedure. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to be able to abort. When I played Survival Mode, on a couple of occasions early on I landed with no fuel to take off again, which was a royal PITA especially if the depot was now swarming with angry sentinels.

True, but the consequences of not being able to abort IRL are much more . . . severe. Hell, in this game when you're flying along and run into something, like a mountain, it just goes "boom". IRL you'd be a smear on the ground getting picked up with a stick and a spoon.

On PS4 the only thing I could do was change automated landings off of square. It's my own fault, but I ended up landing instead of detagging whatever nonsense the game so desperately wanted me to investigate. Usually this was accompanied by wasted time and launch fuel, which is why it is so annoying

It already happened to me to hit E by reflex to use the revert truster while being in the atmosphere, low enough to initiate landing... was a one time thing but it sucked (was trying to break a facility door).

I am stuck hovering over landing spot over an hour now... Only thing I can do is look at inventory and craft. There is my issue :D
If the game detects you might be heading too fast to a landing point it will 'bounce' you back in reverse. If the landing target is Green lit then you are committed to land once having pressed the landing button.
