Profanity filter forbade me to name something "Moleracoon". Please post other words that didn't get through.
Seriously. What's wrong with mole, or a racoon? And that's not the first time seemingly normal word didn't get through. Is that a bug? I have no clue.

forced profanity filter in 2018

Why aren't profanity filters voluntary? On by default, can opt out if you're not oversensitive like dev teams assume we are.

I feel like peoples' "sensitivity level" is both subjective and very personal. Not much sense in making it a point in any conversation like this.

Plus there's really no opting in or out of what other people choose to name things anyway. Unless of course those opting into the filter want to see a TON of systems, planets, animals, flora and fauna all named [EXPLETIVE DELETED].

I dunno. Pretty sure almost anything you do for something like this is going to have a whiff of the absurd.

satan is also censored
it's like that game were you can pick play as an assassin but can't say it in chat because of the profanity filter. I can't remember the name of the game, some MMO

My favorite is when it censors itself. I had a plant named D.Puseysomething and I had to change the "♥♥♥♥♥"

edit: plant not planet

welcome to the Nanny State 2018
I can understand if just '♥♥♥♥' was censored but the NMS profanity filter is HORRIBLE.

Is the word "black" also censored cause people use that as a racial thing? I own a black car, do I walk around worried to say my car is black? No? Is my registration censored. No it says "black car".

The name of an animal or object should never be put into a profanity filter just because it's also used as part of a racial slur. In this case it isn't even the whole word, the slur is '♥♥♥♥'.

Might as well also censor the word monkey because that too is used when idiot racists go telling people of colour to eat a banana. That is racist and horrible, but if my daughter goes to the zoo and says "yay, look a monkey" - do people look at her shocked? No. It's an actual monkey at a zoo. Nothing racist about it. So in NMS if I want to call my planet "Black Raccoon" or ask someone "Have you got X material" it shouldn't appear as "Black ********", or "Have you **** X material" or be totally blocked completely from even being used as a planet name.

I have even seen random generated names from the game CENSORED. One planet had a triple K in the name and was censored in the discovery tab. Yet i could see the full name of it when I flew to the planet and scanned it. Sometimes vice versa!

Racism is a horrible thing, it is even worse when regular words can no longer be used for their intended purpose. A raccoon is just a damn animal, and sure ♥♥♥♥ is a racial slur but sometimes people who try to censor negativity go too far. Imho doing this allows racist people and those who sprear fear and bigotry, WIN.

Lol, sorry, english is my second language, didn't know that the actual word is RACCOON. Well, too late now. Btw, the "offending" part is "♥♥♥♥", so i doubt that "ccoon" would be fine... The name "Profanityfilterforbademetonamethisanimal" stays. That's another thing - players should be able to edit the names of their own discoveries.

There is a mod that removes profanity filter but it is on client end only. No one will see the naughty words you post but you.

german word "kraut"(herb) doesn't work either for naming plants.
Probably because it is an english derogitory slang word for a german. It was teh term used for german soldiers during both WW's. I'm guessing that it won't let you use the name for the German aircraft either!
♥♥♥♥ ?
'got' is a slang....
