So i just found an abandoned / wrecked space station
I remember reading the commander reports when your fleets return from expeditions, and some of them would say something like "found abandoned space station, all crew aboard dead" , and i thought that was some cool flavor text and yet i actually wished to see stuff like that in the game. Apparently HG thought the same and so they added abandoned / wrecked space stations in the game, though i didn't find any bodies in it, just the disguisting goo stuff from abandoned buildings.

From the outside. The light surrounding the entrance to the hangar flashes between blue / orange / red constantly every few seconds.

Exterior had pieces breaking off

Interior is all black and red, just like atlas stations.

Station has a functioning teleporter.

And also a functioning galactic trade terminal, with actual stuff, but the market prices were all over the place with some stuff dirt cheap, and others stupidly expensive, for both buy and sell.

The station itself had the interior design of the old pre-next space stations, with just the two hallways that led to 1 room on each side along with the atlas pass rooms, left side atlas pass room was filled with plants, right side one had crates.

I won't spoil the story of No Man's Sky for those of you that don't know, but considering that this is the old space station design, plus the goo substance everywhere (like in abandoned buildings), it probably has the exact same story as Redacted type planets. And even if it doesn't, this was a legit awesome experience that i thought i should share with you guys.

enjoy :)

PS: I started a fresh save just for NEXT, and i have over 105 hours played on it, and this was the first time i ever ran into an abandoned station, didn't even know they were a thing.

PS #2: Station is in a blue system.

Did it have a functioning teleport?

Yeah, the teleporter was functional.

I found one the other day, you will probably find that the whole system is abandoned and every building on the planets will also be wrecked. They might also all have whispering eggs around them.

Kinda handy for manufacturing plants if you are too lazy to blow the doors off, you can just walk in.

That's pretty cool. Event Horizon meets No Man's Sky.

Saw my first one about the same time you did. Was trying to get one of my frigates fixed by warping with my freighter to another system. My first thought was "what the H--- why is the docking port changing colours?" I agree, it was pretty cool.

looking at those screen shots, i think its how the old station interiors used to be. so now that the new stations are the way they are, is this what happened to the old stations?

damn i have yet to try and look for one.

does it show up on radar with the emblem? or do you actually have to look for a space station on the screen?

That's really cool.

Shame there aren't any bad guys in there.

Like...some zombiefied Gek or something.

Welp, just scared myself, gonna stop thinking now!

For some reason zombie Geks made me think of the evil little bastages in Phantasm.

Maybe nod but i found one with endless waves of pirates around it. Barely got out of there alive. The station had a whole chunk missing!

It was a red system.

Yes, it's exactly how old station interiors used to look, and considering the lore of No Man's Sky and redacted planets, i think it's cool as ♥♥♥♥ :D

Yeah, it shows up just like any station when you enter the system. I didn't realize it was wrecked until i got closer and saw the entry lights flashing red and the exterior damage.

I'm jumping into my game and going pirate hunting.

I know it's RNG but i'm looking forward to finding one of these places and creeping myself out!

Prepare to be creeped the ♥♥♥♥ out. Abandoned stations have their own unique background sound effects and music, to the point where i was scared ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to turn the corner into the rooms thinking something might jump out from behind me. It's completely different from what you hear in abandoned buildings on planets.

Also, i suggest you go for blue systems, since these have the highest chance of spawning anomalies like redacted planets and abandoned stations.

If you look at the system in the galaxy map it will actually say the system was abandoned. on planets many times there are structures that are also devoid of people in them as well in those cases.
