How can I tell the name of my current galaxy?
I'm running an old save and I can't remember in which galaxy I am. There used to be a very simple way to know by warping to a new system but seems like that's no longer the case in NEXT.

By the color of my star could be Calypso but I'm not sure.

Go into space with a ship and press M, look at the left side of the screen, it will tell you.

nope I've tried that, warping and the terminus teleporter.

I think you are mistaking System with Galaxy.

Warp to a new system and land on a new planet, when you discover that planet it will say what galaxy you're in.

Hold f and it says it on the left

In hind-sight, if I was a new player I would get a journal on the go.

I would also like to get a tablet that displayed list of inventories, plus tabs for detailed local info. (@HelloGames)

I think you are also confusing system with galaxy.

Well, I now know that I'm on Hesperius cause I reached the center of Calypso, but there is no real way to tell ingame is it? Aside from the color of the galactic core right?

I take a screenshot when I enter a new galaxy in case I never need to remember. Haven't needed to yet. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1459728751

This won't help now, but a tip is to backup your save files (7zip the NMS save folder for example), when you enter a new galaxy call the file something like "NMS123_Galaxy_Name.7z" whatever.

WOW. I didn't realize the game UI, after all this time, is that lacking and clunky.

One idea for the OP to find current galaxy, which I haven't tested as involves investigating: find a way to *inspect* (not edit) the current value from somewhere in the save file. I don't have a save editor but perhaps that would reveal the answer?

Well I'm on a journey exploring all 255 and then back to the first dimension ;)
Jez Hammond 11 AGO 2018 a las 6:48 a. m.
I'm heading towards the core of first again, then I'm going around it looking for my base from Normal save (currently Permadeath!).

Wow you are patient, I can't be bothered to even travel there again on the first one :)
