[SPOILERS] How do I get the medium refinery blueprint?
I've got 300 hours in the game pre-patch. What have I missed? I don't have this BP and can't find it. :(

Build your base, feed the blueprint analyzer, and follow the story line. Otherwise, you can add it in via the save game editor by goatfungus.

It's in the base quests/new base computer. It's a bit different proces sfor those with legacy saves, so check out the Experimental and latest patch notes. There is an explanation somewhere about how to get the new stuff if you are using your pre NEXT saves.

LoL, more like Ninja'd... expermental might be easier than the save game editor. I actually didn't know there was something there.

I do know I'm on a legacy save on experimental and after this last patch my Base Computer Archives quest went active for the first time.
Yes they did alot of work on legacy saves and integration with the new tech and items. Most of it should work now, it's just a bit different for legacy players to get the base computer and such, than it is for new saves from scratch.

I have been testing with my old saves when not working on my new game one. Most of the fixes have stuck and are stable. They are clearing lists really fast.

Most of the new tech and features should now be accessible for people using pre Next saves.
I may go back and enjoy one of my older runs soon, I love the new player experience but miss my old fleet.

I just discovered this as well, using a legacy save myself.

I was THIS close (holds 2 fingers VERY close together) to just giving myself the blueprints that were missing using the save game editor.

I HATE cheating in any game, but this was becoming beyond ridiculous.

--RANT MODE ACTIVATED--

I remember when Atlas Rises came out, I had to re-do a good section of the Base Building missions over again, to re-learn the new blueprints/crafting recipes, but at least then Legacy saves were given that opportunity seems like almost as soon as Atlas Rises was released.

This time, with NEXT, us with Legacy saves have had to read about all these "Base Archive" quests and how we are supposed to use the new "Large and Medium Refiner" and have no access to any of it for the past 2 weeks.

I know HG is a small team, and they are addressing the issues, but it seems like they "hung us out to dry" this time around.

Love the game still, and love all the new improvements/additions, but seems they neglected all of us that have been playing this game for the past couple years, and supported them from the initial launch back in 2016.

--END OF RANT--

OK, now that that's out of the way, does anyone know if I'll have to "opt out" of experimental branch once it goes live?

Will experimental just automatically become the stable branch?
Prometheus Aug 9, 2018 @ 7:20pm
Experimental has so far been pushed into production branch. Once that is done, going from Exp to stable should be seemless. However, things can happen, where experimental needs another set of changes and does not go stable directly.... or you want to go back to stable without exp having been pushed stable yet.

So to help yourself, it is best to take a backup of the save games, before you switch, as per instructions posted in the Experimental sticky OP.
Yes, unless you just don't want to use the new experimental builds again, simply staying in experimental will automatically get you access to the final build when it all goes up as the stable build. Both branches are patched and are identical.
I usually stay in experimental myself.

As Prometheus says, make a backup just because, it's rare but sometimes saves have crossover/compatibility issues if you hop branches.

OK, thanks for the replies, and sorry for the rant :(

I do make a new backup of my save after every game session, and keep them all archived on separate hard drive, so should be covered in that regard.

Thanks again :)

I even went from experimental back to stable using the same save several patches ago and it worked fine. Not saying that will work for anyone at any time, but at the very least you should have safe opportunities to migrate your save back to stable when they do a push. And you can always backup and try at any time.

No worries ;) New content integration is rough for devs and players. The frustration is understandable. Just post up though, always someone here happy to help.

Okay, there are so many versions out there it's hard to keep track, and though I'm not necessarily on the "Steam" version, I am playing No Man's Sky (Beyond) ver 2.24, which is believe the latest universal update regardless of platform. Thankfully this seems to be one of the games where it is almost 100% identical regardless of the system you're playing on so that's a boon. That being said, there seems to be some sort of issue here. Perhaps it is a known glitch but likely i'm missing something.

I don't have a "Blueprint Analyzer" and from the NMS Wiki that component is obsolete. I have a Construction Research Unit, and a Base Computer. Nothing was ever called a blue print analyzer.

I've been following the story pretty much all the way through, albeit with several side missions for resource gathering, and technology advancements: you know finding ships and such, fixing them or salvaging them, and updating my own gear, as well as the occasional side mission of helping a distress call. (That last is annoying because if I don't have on hand what they need, i will never find my way back to them because the waypoint system is horribly flawed. This also includes if i find a waypoint station that sells things and they're cheap, i want to return to buy from them, but with only 1 custom marker allowed, it is impossible to find your way back to a place once you've left - except space stations.)

That being said, one of the base computer missions (for building your base) is to install the "Pulse Spitter" into my multi-tool. That requires 200 Deuterium. Now, I have gobs of Tritium, and Di-Hydrogen is dime a dozen, but I don't have a Medium refiner, and I have no idea where to find the blueprint. It says here that the blueprint will be granted as part of the "Build Your Base" mission, but apparently that story line is giving me tasks out of order. I should have to build a medium refiner first in order to refine the Deuterium. Is this a known glitch, or are they really expecting me to scour the galaxy for a station that actually sells Deuterium, since i have not found one yet?

I mean, at this point in the game i'm mostly saving all of my units for "Wiring Looms", because they are needed for everything, are god-awful expensive, and you can't craft them - you can only buy them. So unless Deuterium is cheap, that's going to be a frustration, especially when i have all the resources to craft/refine it if i'm given the damned blueprint.

Thanks

If memory serves, the item you need now is the Construction Research Computer. You can also get all the recipes from the Anomaly.

Good news on deuterium: it's not expensive. That's because it has been mostly removed from the game. Getting it is a pain in the butt, but only one or two things still ask for it, probably as an oversight.
jaedenruiner Jan 17, 2020 @ 10:54pm
well, i had it backwards. it appears the mission i thought was a base mission wasn't. now i randomly saved a freighter which is another mouth to feed, when i barely know 45 words of the language, so i'm getting why this game is so popular, because, it's reminiscent of of pre-1.14 Minecraft in that you don't know anything, and pretty much dumb your way through it all.
i mean, god it's addicting, but each set of problems, present new solutions. :steamhappy:
