The easiest way for me is to put down a base computer, claim the area, then build walls around the nests. The monsters can't attack you inside the walls, so you can take your time harvesting the eggs.
Just don't lean on any of the walls, and watch for monsters clipping through them; those can hit you I think. The ones that come up inside have usually just flailed around some, then run outside without being able to attack. If they seeem stuck, just laser them and new ones will spawn outside.
I know right?! It's not like they don't have more! Seriously, some people~!
Yeah, just get down with that procreation you damn bugs! I know you like it!!
Lol, dude, you don't think they're under the ground getting all freaky right now?! Why do you think every time you kill on another one comes out? They're crankin it hardcore under there!
PSST... the eggs are their babies... of course they are going to attack you. YOU are the predator
The lesson here is simple, or should be, when a sentinel rolls up on you, unless you plan on killing that sentinel then stop what you are doing with your weapon... Yes ma'am, its really that simple.
Kill that sentinal and they just keep sending them after you....it's lame. Run away in your jet and they send jets after you...
Which is why I tend to avoid firefights with the sentinels when and where possible.
Sentinels do not react to you killing things, they react to you using mining lasers and multitool weapons within their spotting range.
Uhm... actually there's a thing I'vee learned that *you* might not be aware of. Ussing your tool in front of a Sentinel then playing dumb makes them wander off for a while.
Next time you see a Sentinel, drill something with your tool then as soon as they come over to check on you, stop and just stand there. They'll scan you for a second, then stop and wander off. It's actually a pretty funny way to get rid of one that's hanging around you.
I've done this multilee times and so far it's always worked. Drill something, then stand there whistling to yourself. The drone comes over and scans you, and you just look at it. It stops and wanders off. Then you're free to go back to mining again. For whatever reason, once they deem you harmless, they don't agro on you for a second time right away.
Check my reply to EMCM above, then give it a try. It's kinda stupid and kinda funny, but so far it's been working for me.
You drill something then when the sentinel comes over, just stand there and go 'What? I ain't doin nuffin!' ...they lose interest and wander off, and take a good while (if ever; so far once this has happened, none of the ones who scanned me ever came back!) to notice you again, no matter what you're doing.
Why you think the Master Chief has lived this long without dying?... :)
That's kind of weird. I am the type that depletes the entire resource spot in one go if I need something, say copper. Sentinels for sure come and check it out and I can't get them to go away, even if I stop doing anything and they didn't pop an alert on me.
So my method of choice is to go a bit away, and then mine a rock or a plant... even though they are not in detection range and sure enough, they find their way over to me. Which means I can drag them 2-3 times, which will then be FAR away from the resource spot, and I can go back and finish in peace.
In other words, harvesting and other activity seems to build up a HOTSPOT that they investigate eventually, if you make it large enough, even if there are no sentinels in detection range. And they stay there for a while, because the spot is HOT, unless you trick them to come after you.
Dig a hole under the eggs, small enough for the egg to drop thru, but not being enough for the horror to get to you.
