Base Missions and rewards

So I am a new player to NMS, I managed to get the base building missions to work after moving my freighter, but last 2 times I checked my base computer all I got were exosuit upgrade pieces, not any actual base blueprints, like I still don't have the overseer terminal. I got the storage crate thing (the one with 5 inventory slots) but nothing else since.

Is this a main story progression thing? I've only just managed to get the Artemis questline to work, after I was unable to triangulate my position, due to my quest marker being inside an observatory...

To get to base specialists quests you first have to build cylindrical/square room. And to get those you have to research blueprints with blueprint analyzer.

Ok thanks, will that unlock proper blueprints from the computer? I don't have any more room for suit upgrades!

There are 2 base-building related quests. One is the repeatable one called Base Archives or something, that seems to bug out for a lot of people and gets you to build incidental stuff (including Containers, Save Point, Exosuit things), and is repeated on a timer. The other is triggered somewhere in the main quest line (sorry I forget where) and makes you build the meaningful stuff like Specialist Consoles, hire NPCs, the Overseer etc.

It's part of the Artemis storyline - you get the overseer once you complete 'Ghost in the machine'.

Well I'm still trying to get Artemis' location, as part of Alone Among the Stars and yet I just constructed my overseer terminal and recruited an overseer, so that mission is independant I think.

All I needed to do was unlock the round foundation and round room, as suggested, and then I could build the overseer station. I was building my base with the individual pieces from the wooden set before, and getting frustrated that I couldn't make glass for the windows.

So now there is a pod out where the landing pad will be, next to the storage crate that is just sitting on the beach like it washed up...

Sounds like there is more than one way to get there then - maybe the Artemis storyline takes a detour into it if you haven't already built the round room off your own back.
