How to access Multi-tool collection?

I am sorry if this is a dumb question... I haven't played since the release, and just got back into the game. Really loving it!

While I am enjoying a completely different and great the latest upgrades to No Man's Sky, as I was playing through. I stumbled upon a multi-tool that I wanted and I purchased it.

The choice was to "buy (and add to the collection)" and "exchange". So I bought the new tool for full price.

So, the question is, what happened to my old multi-tool? What is this multi-tool collection, and how do I access it?

Quick menu (default x on PC) Utilities (far left option) - Change Multi-tool.

Thanks!! I have even been searching for my answer, and couldn't find it... And I would have never guessed to look into the quick menu.. Feels like this option is hidden away.

It took me ages to find this information too, since it's hidden away in the Patch Notes under the Multiple Multi-Tools section.

"Added the ability for players to own more than one Multi-Tool. Purchased Multi-Tools will be added to the Quick Menu for easy swapping."

Had the same issue, HG thinks this is easier than have two tabs on the multi tool screen, tool A, tool B, click one.

I have this on steam and am glad someone posted this. But what about on the old Xbox 1? can you access them there?

Is it possible to have more then one multitool in your collection ?

You can have 3 multitools in your collection (and 6 ships)

I had to turn off the network access to get the multitool selection icon to appear.

Each of the multitools can be assigned a "hotkey" which removes the need to go through the menu process when changing between them.

THANK YOU for this. I was almost stuck with a huge gun with 90% broken slots. Now it sits patiently in my collection until it's ready to REK things

First answer is correct: "Quick menu (default x on PC) Utilities (far left option) - Change Multi-tool." but I just thought I'd add that you must do this when ON FOOT and not in your ship.

Porbably obvious to most players, but I was sheltering in my ship on a toxic planet when I came here and read this. ;)
