On the upgrades side of the station (first stall), and the Nexus there are automated vendors that sell you additional suit slots. They have made it a little less inventory crazy, but still prefer having more room to store stuff.
Exosuit cargo slots should be a priority.
Go with the Multi-Tool! A bigger ship would be great but your multi-tool is what will get you everything you need and keep you alive long enough to spend that money. More slots for upgrades means faster scans, more mats and better offence. In the end means more money sooner then later.
Also, buying a mod under S rank is a waist of nanites. Unless it's a blueprint, putting anything under S rank on your tools, ship or suit. Is a waist of nanites. Unless you got it as a reward then use it then scrap it when you get a replacement for those sweet sweet looms.
Good luck and happy gaming to you.
