Experimental Branch 27/11 - Synthesis Update
Hello everyone,

BEYOND was a really nice moment for us, we had a ton of people playing VR for the first time, and two million players in the 7 days after release.

Since then we’ve been releasing frequent community updates, with new weekly missions and rewards, while in the background working on what's next.

We have some really big future plans, but we had a whole stack of small changes and improvements we were working on that we knew players would love right now. Thanks-giving seems like a nice time to release something neat for our biggest fans, and players on the Experimental Branch have a chance to experience these right now.

Announcing The Synthesis Update! Ship salvaging, first person exocraft, multiple weapons, ship upgrading, VR improvements, tri base building parts and nearly 300 tweaks and changes for this game we love so much.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man’s Sky from the Steam library page and select “Properties”. Among the available tabs will be the “BETAS” tab. Enter “3xperimental” in the textbox and press “CHECK CODE”, then select it from the dropdown menu.

The patch notes are as follows:

Experimental Branch Update 28/11
  • The disable mods flag has been reset, as changes to the data structure made in Synthesis have caused many mods to be incompatible.
  • Fixed an issue that could disable compass markers after warping.
  • Fixed a softlock that could occur when interacting with specific technology merchants.
  • Fixed a rare issue that could affect Multi-Tool inventories.
  • Fixed Xbox One controller bindings on the discovery page.

We are tracking an issue where some players have incorrect controller bindings after updating the game. If you have this problem please restart the Steam Client to correct the issue.

Experimental Branch 27/11
Please see www.nomanssky.com/synthesis-update/ for full patch notes.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

• Fixed an issue that prevented the ‘Upload All’ button from working in the Discovery Page.

WOW! Finally! Does it REALLY work now? I almost can't believe that.

Wow. Just . . . wow. I’m far from home for the (American) holiday, but will be delighted to dive in for all this Synthesis goodness when I return.

So much work, but nothing into an interresting direction. OK, all these improvements must have been done, should have been done before Beyond came out.
But they don't make NMS more interesting. All gets a little bit more smoother, but not a little bit more exiting. Still boring, after some amount of playing. At least for me.

No offense but any game gets boring after a while.

Perhaps play or do something else and then come back to NMS when you really want to play it.

Wrong attitude. Sounds like a "fanboy"
No game must become boring, when it develops. Many games manage to be exciting for a long period by expand and evolute. Yes, every development will come to an end after a long time, when human mankind is creating. But NMS isn't that "old" game. It's relatively new!

NMS gets boring after some few hours of gaming!

so grateful for all the free updates. you guys have done great. however, im really hoping for a biome variety change in the future. That would be massive for replayability.
