I would do a fresh install of the game, delete everything in your NMS folder after using the Steam delete, since old NMM left files all over the place in Oldrim, and possibly why NMS is mad at you.
- unsubscribe from and delete Workshop mods.
- deactivate and delete all Nexus and "other" mods from the game.
- delete Local Content via Steam by right clicking on game from Steam Library.
- exit Steam
- delete all files in Steam\Steamapps\Common\NMS folder.
- reinstall NMS from Steam by right clicking on the game icon in your Steam library.
- verify the game cache. ( its safe to ignore the "1 file..." message.)
*edit again* Glad you got that sorted, at least the vanilla game, always slowly mod your game, this is also true of Beth/PDX games (PDX- Paradox ie Stellaris/Crusader Kings 2)
Ok thanks, I will try that. I just went in and deleted the Mods folder and NMS started right up, which is a relief.
NMS mods on Nexus are - IMO - few and many are not updated. (I think - think - 1.77 is still what mods are up to) Best to look at the "Posts" for each mod you may DL. The posts, in the tabbed display, inside each mod page.
Often you will find other players posting their problems with that mod. It's often hard to figure if a mod is updated. What I do is the basic way - try each one alone until I find where the "crasher" is. BTW, when logging, there should be a black screen with a red triangle that comes up after choosing the save you want. Reminds you you are running mods.
Others will no doubt fill in here or correct me.
I'm used to NMM anyway, and it is really easy to manage NMS mods using it.
Coastal Waters isn't really needed since Visions included its own tweak. It doesn't cause NMS to not load though.
RayRoD's flight overhaul, however, has not been updated and currently does not work with the latest version of NMS.
Jetpack Overhaul is also not compatible - causes insta-death on load.
I had to stop using NMM because it wouldn't load any of my games. Even if I manually put in the .exe location. Now Vortex isn't seeing most of my games even though it says it supports them. In ESO Vortex said a few mods were installed, elevated, activated, etc etc and it still wouldn't load them in game. I've been out of gaming for ahile due to school and I wasn't prepared to have to spend a bit troubleshooting Nexus Mods stuff.
Thankfully NMS is working now though and I installed some mods manually.
