Whenever possible, I use the individual items to build...and you can just put in one of the arches for a breezeway entrance. Looks nice and inviting.
to some extent, you can use this same practice on enviromentally challenging worlds. There will be a small area just after you enter your base that is impacted...but honestly never really have any issues.
Doors sometimes disappear as well...but they usually come back when you exit and return to your base. Made that mistake and created a new door, only to have two doors in the same location on my next session. Pretty easy to fix.
