what's the quickest way to get magnetised ferrite
need it to melt down into ferrite for some super base building :steamhappy:

I think this one can not simply be refined, so the fastest way is to get it in big quantities at space stations. Teleport from one to another until you find it, should happen soon, also look at NPC's there.
And once you find it you can return , it will not change.

for the biggest yield, you can do:

find a dead planet with magnetized ferrite deposit

or

medium refiner:
1 ferrite dust + 1 indium -> 8 magnetized ferrite -> 16 pure ferrite

big refiner:
1 ferrite dust + 1 pure ferrite + 1 platinium -> 12 magnetized ferrite -> 24 pure ferrite
20 oxygen + 20 magnetized ferrite + 25 tritium -> 1 rare metal element -> 150 pure ferrite

Also the last recipe take way less space in a mule inventory to carry around tons of pure ferrite, since 1 full stack of rare metal element give 750 pure ferrite once broken down.

Yeah. Buy it. Visit the high-supply economies.

No need to refine it. Just find a planet that has it and mine it. That's the quickest way. Refining takes time. Especially if you go from dust to pure to magnetic. Mining is faster and you can pick up a load of other resources and nanites by exploring at the same time.

Don't need it... You can get the pure ferrite by refining 1:1 ferrite or buy using the advanced laser to mine it.

I have huge amounts of energized indium due to an outpost i made in a deserted blue system

Will that work for that formula?

no, you need normal indium

here's a list of some recipes, it's not up to date with the current patch so there might be new ones:

https://bradhave94.github.io/nms/

This make crafting way easier since most recipes have a way higher yield. Combined with oxygen harvesters, it can turn some ressources into infinite source of materials.

Quickest way to get ferrite is to find a system that sells them in large quantities. Some sells 3500+ ferrite.

Thank you for the link!

I didn't know you could make 90% of the stuff on there with the large refiner! Time to make cash! :steamhappy:

Mine Magnetized Ferrite deposits on the SMALLEST DIAMETER setting on your terrain manipulator. This is important....there is a 10X reduction in the amount you mine if you use the largest setting...which most newbies are gonna do. So instead of getting 1200 to 2000 units per deposit (on smallest setting) you only get 80 to 100 per deposit using the largest (biggest diameter) setting. You will also use 3 times more fuel (Magnetized Ferrite), but it is still worth it as you get so much more in return.

The other easy way is just to get 5 mining frigates for your capital ship. Each one produces 100 units of Magnetizd Ferrite every few minutes which it will deposit into your Cap ship (but you have to fly around to each frigate though to get it to deposit). I personally prefer a mix of mining frigates (Magnetized Ferrite) and Trade frigates (Chromatic Metal)... so I never have to mine the stuff again.
